HR Officer | Labor Consulting
Date: Jan 30, 2025 Location: San Juan-Santurce, PR Company: Popular Workplace Type: Hybrid HR Officer | Labor Consulting Job Type Full Time/Hybrid General Description Responsible for providing consultancy and guidance to business lines on sensitive labor, performance and employee relations matters at all levels within the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Work with varied complexity employee relations and labor issues in a financial institution. This role will collaborate closely with senior leaders, managers, supervisors, and employees at all levels. Responsible for managing sensitive situations related to discrimination, harassment, domestic violence, reasonable accommodation under ADAA, performance management, environmental surveys among others. + Have rigorous knowledge on local and federal labor legislation and able to address administrative and judicial forum with ease. Have previous solid experience managing active labor claims. Work closely with internal and external counsel to identify and mitigate risk. + Highly proficient on crisis management, prioritizing, and handling of confidential information and works well under pressure. + Should be a self-starter that displays assertiveness in handling sensitive labor situations. + Have pristine analytical and communication skills both verbal and written. Prepare and deliver presentations and workshops related to labor matters for leaders/employees. Maintains the highest level of teamwork, collaboration, partnership, and ability to work within all levels in the organization. + Provide guidance to business units facilitating prompt and effective solutions for workplace conflicts. + Proactively develop, and implement training and resources related to Labor matters. + Exercise independent judgment and discretion while using company policies and practices to analyze situations, spot potential issues and determine appropriate action. + Handle cases of people-related issues such as performance management, behaviors concerns, disciplinary actions for policy violation, and other investigations into discrimination or harassment claims. + Promote knowledge, understanding, and compliance regarding company policy through coaching, presentations, and training. + Mindset of collaboration, innovation, productivity, employee well-being and engagement, to enhance the Company culture. + Provide counsel and facilitate prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflict to address issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with Popular’s policies, Guidelines, Code of Ethics, Rules of Conduct, and practices, considering legal considerations. Education Master’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or Labor Relations. Experience A minimum of five (5) years of experience in employee relations/ labor consulting field. Certifications / Licenses The following certifications and/or licenses are not required but, desirable: Professional for Human Resources Management (PHR) Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's) + Knowledge of employee relations compliance and regulatory frameworks. + Strong verbal and written communicator in Spanish and English. + Computer and technological skills: Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word) and other presentation software. + Project Management: Ability to work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision. Capacity to achieve results according to plan ensuring the expected quality. Excellent organization capacity to define priorities, meet deadlines, and flexible to change. Knowledge of project coordination, identification of business needs, work plan, budget control, time management, resource allocation, team management and status reports. Must demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills. + Facilitation skills: Track record in facilitation and presentation skills. Able to present ideas effectively one-on-one, virtually and with a large group. Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and in various settings.
