Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Human Resources/Labor Relations Partner located in Freeport, Texas!

About you and this role

In this role, you will support a client base located at Texas Operations.  You will support leaders and employees at this large integrated site to deliver against the people strategy, maintaining partnership and relevance to drive business results and will be part of an HR/LR team that splits the client base located at Freeport and Oyster Creek.

You will be required to gain an understanding of the business and corporate culture, drive change initiatives, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, develop trusting relationships, and provide valuable feedback that enhances performance for all. You will report to the US South HR Partner Leader and work within a network of other HR & LR Partners, as well as with other parts of the HR model which include HR Solutions and the HR Center of Expertise.  

Responsibilities

Act as point-of-contact and subject matter expert for employee and labor relations situations in the defined client base and work directly with the Senior HR & LR Partner for consistent approach on labor issues; identifying and delivering solutions to employees, leaders and union leadership.

Manage Unfair Labor Practices, grievances, arbitrations and employee relations for the sites.

Advise the site(s) on labor-related risk and/or employee relations implications of planned business objectives associated with the collective bargaining agreements that govern the labor workforce at the site(s).

Facilitate and educate leaders on direct partnership philosophy.

Audit compliance with ethics programs & procedures, investigate complaints, and verify that deficiencies are corrected.

Display thorough knowledge of policy and legislation to provide professional guidance and support in complex policy interpretation and employee relations issues.

Adopt a proactive approach towards regulation. Help to ensure policies and labor agreements are appropriately maintained, communicated and understood across the organization at the site, in order to improve compliance and promote positive employee relations.

Evaluate risk associated with employee relations issues to develop and advise on options.

Support pay negotiations for General Population groups.

Assist with employee and labor relations strategy and implementation for all organizational changes.

Partner and consult to understand relevant client strategies and how they are activated through the people agenda.

Integrate the relevant client strategy into the broader business/functional/site strategy.

Build leadership capability - serve as a coach to people leaders on talent and talent decisions.

Provide expert advice and coaching to leaders and employees when appropriate.

Ensure that a strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization.

Focus on run the business needs and the 1-3 year plans of the Organization.

Connect, redirect and consult with people leaders on the portfolio of HR solutions to solve business needs.

Partner with the other two Site HR & LR Partners based in Freeport to support the people agenda and objectives of the site.

Create a strong client focus with an employee experience mindset.

Apply and advise on relevant local laws and regulations related to employee and labor relations.

Drive organizational productivity and engagement.

Lead strategy and participate on leadership teams within the defined client base.

Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.

A minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience.

Previous HR experience.​

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

A degree discipline in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business Administration, Engineering, or other related field.

6+ years of Human Resources experience.

2+ years of Labor Relations experience.

Experience leading large change initiatives.

Client facing experience.

Expertise in employee and labor relations management.

Ability to analyze data and situations, make recommendations and assist with implementation.

Ability to build solid relationships with clients through expertise and consultation.

Knowledge of U.S. employment and labor laws.

Excellent interpersonal effectiveness skills, including but not limited to conflict resolution, effective two-way communication, negotiation skills.

Strong relationship, partnership, and consultancy skills.

Note: Domestic relocation is available for this role and may be provided based on eligibility.
