We’re looking for an experience Human Resources professional to fill this role. The HR Generalist supports Holland America Line and Seabourn’s Fleet Human Resources (HR) team in the administration and implementation of projects, programs, and customer service responsibilities for our seagoing employees. This role is a hands-on role that will support the business as a knowledge hub, and key support player. Utilizing data, policies, procedures, and feedback, to make recommendations to the Fleet HR team for continuous improvement of day-to-day operations.
This role will program manage and support shipboard and shoreside organizational change matters, employee relations, staffing, data trending, and reporting. This role helps assess the needs of the HR team, which entails communicating proactively with the internal team to develop and execute on projects.
Additionally, must have a working knowledge of traditional Human Resources functions including employee relations, payroll, benefits, talent management, and mentoring. The HR Generalist should have a thoughtful in your approach as a representative of the HR Team, with the goal of creating a high performing, engaged team, and culture.
As a member of the HR team, the HR Generalist will assist in how to scale and enhance our culture as it relates to employee engagement, building morale and becoming a best place to work in the cruise industry. **Responsibilities**
+ **HR and Employee Relations Support:**
+ Provides professional day-to-day HR support to the fleet HR business partners (FHRBP), shoreside HRBPs, investigations, crew care, and crew welfare.
+ Monitors the Fleet HR Inbox for queries and complaints ensuring that team members' queries are answered promptly and escalated for investigation or as appropriate.
+ Supports Fleet HR with reviewing HR Manager reports, provides feedback to formulate improvements, and escalates high-risk issues as appropriate.
+ For Shoreside HRBPs, support tasks related to onboarding, offboarding, maintaining personnel files, recordkeeping, and various administrative support.
+ For Investigations, supports internal investigations in response to formal complaints, including assisting with interviews of team members, reviewing related documentation, drafting summary reports, and presenting recommendations for effective resolution.
+ For Crew Care, updating the crew management system with unscheduled leavers and formal warnings, logging the information, and filing the documentation. Distributing monthly or bi-monthly reports.
+ For Crew Welfare, actively engages and supports all shipboard teams and fleet directors with crew activity enhancement and roll out.
+ Participates in the appeals process for reinstatement of team members after disciplinary discharge by supporting with documentation.
+ Explains and interprets Company rules, policies, and procedures and the need for compliance to managers and team members, using creativity to resolve difficult customer requests and promote a positive workplace culture.
+ Maintains employee relations letter templates and all related support documentation.
+ Builds and maintains professional relations with operational department representatives to encourage collaborative partnerships to address feedback on crew morale, concerns, and issues related to shipboard team members.
+ **Data Analytics and Support:**
+ Supports the Fleet HR team with analyzing and providing accurate reports to managers on any employee related trends.
+ Analyzes trends in turnover, employee surveys, separations, and complaints/grievances to determine support or action needed to adjust unfavorable trends.
+ Reviews and interprets data for trends or anomalies and presents viable solutions to address business needs always keeping in mind DEI.
+ Provide analytical and transactional HR support by responding to ad-hoc reporting needs, preparing summaries, and tracking key initiatives.
+ **Project Management:**
+ Participate in a wide variety of projects with cross-functional team members from the development of policies to manager training, including making improvements and/or suggesting new programs that are right for our culture and our employees.
+ Assists with Organizational Development Initiatives for shipboard restructure or re-organizations as needed.
+ Coordinates projects including preparing communications and project plans for organizational design and re-orgs, performance management, year-end compensation, talent reviews, engagement surveys, and compensation reviews.
+ **Policy Research and Implementation Support:**
+ Assist fleet directors with researching and drafting guidelines, policies, and procedures relating to human resources issues in line with our Culture Essentials and Core Values.
+ Participate in the implementation, planning, and delivery of new programs and initiatives to ensure maximum success and effectiveness to shipboard management.
+ **Talent Management Support:**
+ Assists with recruitment of onboard HR roles.
+ Assists with scheduling and planning of onboard HR roles.
**Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field or equivalent experience
+ 3+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience, with progressively responsible positions in HR related field
+ Basic knowledge of federal and state labor laws, experience with International Maritime and Flag state legislation a plus.
+ Basic knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures of internal investigations in Employee Relations.
+ Experience in project management.
+ Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) for negotiating, responding, and resolving complex, sensitive and confidential issues.
+ Proficiency in the use of computer business applications with working knowledge of word, excel, presentations, and database applications (Microsoft Applications).
+ Strong organizational skills and detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
+ Aware of and fully utilizes our Culture Essentials in every aspect of the activities and encourages others to do the same.
+ Ability to collaborate with team members and various levels of management.

+ Base Salary Range: $74,100.00 to $100,000.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
