HR Country Lead, Intl Stores – South Africa, International Stores

Then read on! International and Emerging Stores (IES) is looking for a Country HR Lead to support our Intl Stores organizations in South Africa. This role will be both hands on and strategic providing human resource leadership in the development and implementation of HR strategies that foster growth, innovation and organizational effectiveness. The individual in this role must first understand the business priorities and translate them into an HR plan that supports the business. This includes being a trusted advisor to organization leaders, partnering on talent management, organizational design and effectiveness, workforce planning, employee development and engagement, among other HR efforts. Key job responsibilities • Partner with organizational leaders, leveraging data, functional expertise, and sound judgment to influence decisions and evolve new ways of thinking • Partner with HR team members and business leadership to create and execute people strategy, develop senior leaders, and mitigate risks across the organization • Engage specialist subject matter experts such as Compensation & Benefits, Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition, etc. to define and tackle organizational obstacles • Think big about how to implement longer-term strategic initiatives like organizational design decisions, HR effectiveness, and career development for the teams • Work with the business to define and drive organizational health metrics, lead talent reviews, and champion ID&E initiatives About the team Some of the problems we are solving for include seeding new teams, building leadership pipeline, and creating the ‘Earth’s best employer’ brand for Amazon in the region. The incumbent will work closely with Directors and Senior Managers as key stakeholders both in the Business and People Experience and Technology (PXT) or HR teams across Africa, Middle East and the US. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience • Proficient in partnering effectively with senior leaders through skillful navigation of ambiguous situations using strategic planning and effective project management. • Experience working with global teams, driving organizational change initiatives, and developing talent management plans for a global organization • Demonstrated understanding of the country labour laws (Eg: Employment Equity programs) Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in Human Resources or MBA • Regional HR experience • Strong business acumen, with demonstrated ability to grow and develop senior business leaders • Experience developing long-term business and people strategy for a scaling organization Amazon is an equal opportunities employer, and we value your passion to discover, invent, simplify and build.
