Job Overview:
The Lead Housekeeper Assists Supervisor in maintaining a high-quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the condition of all assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the environmental service personnel to be sure all schedules are completed. Is
responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Exercises supervisory authority and independent judgment in directing employee labor. Makes recommendations regarding the ongoing performance evaluation of supervised staff and resulting actions (i.e. Reward, discipline, discharge, etc.).
Qualifications:
Preferred:
+ Hospital housekeeping experience
+ Floor care experience
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Rotating weekends and holidays
+ Per Diem
Essential Functions:
+ Accepts responsibility for a limited area, shift or task as assigned
+ Assumes responsibility for the quality standard in his/her area
+ Assumes responsibility for work area in the absence of the supervisor
+ Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done properly and that personnel are following schedules (flow-chart)
+ Exercises supervisory authority and independent judgment in directing employee labor
+ Inspects equipment daily to maintain it in clean condition and in good repair
+ Instills a service-minded approach to all tasks performed by environmental services staff by demonstrating a personal enthusiasm and team spirit
+ Maintains good public relations with all patients, facility and staff personnel
+ Motivates staff by communicating areas done well and areas needing improvement
+ Performs the duties of an environmental services housekeeper as outlined in the job description
+ Recommends and observes staff coverage at all times by checking sign-in sheet and using personnel efficiently
+ Reports any pertinent information to the Supervisor as it occurs
+ Retrains environmental services personnel as directed by the environmental services management
