Job Description

This role provides support to all nursing units on the off-shift hours to ensure safe, high quality patient care. Provides bedside education, coaching, and guidance in the care of patients and families, and in collaboration with the healthcare team. Serves as a clinical resource and communicates regularly with the Patient Care Supervisor on the unit needs. Serves as a clinical safety net for patients through proactive rounding to ensure adherence to hospital policy/initiatives. 

Offers and provides visible support to team members by rounding for improvement and maintaining an awareness of initiatives and staff competencies.Identifies situations and events which require notification of Patient Care Supervisor and/or unit leader.   Collaborates with Patient Care Supervisor or unit leader on any unresolved issues.Facilitates appropriate assignments for oncoming shift; based on acuity, census and staff competencies. Ensures staff are taking meal breaks during shifts.Provides clinical support to staff by acting as a consultant to staff on clinical and administrative decisions; facilitating communication and coordination with the medical team on complex patients and other concerns; acts as a preceptor for staff requiring support of a new procedure, situation or skill.Assists staff with coordinating the timely placement of admissions, delegation or redistribution of work and identification of staffing needs.Communicates in an effective and professional manner, demonstrating respect for other health-team members.  Addresses customer service issues and rounds on patients/families/staff as needed.Addresses safety concerns by identifying and entering occurrence reports; Inspects units for general cleanliness and lack of clutter in public areas and conference room and ensures empty rooms are clean and ready for admission.Ensures survey readiness during unit rounding by ensuring corridors are clear; fire alarms, extinguishers, exits and panels are not obstructed; oxygen tanks are secured and placed on racks; emergency equipment is not obstructed, checklist is completed, and medications are appropriately stored.Provides chart audits and provides peer feedback.Perform all other duties as assignedCompany DescriptionQualificationsGraduated from an accredited school of nursingLicensed as Registered Nurse in the State of MarylandMinimum of two years’ experience in Clinical Nurse II levelACLS CertificationCurrent EKG CompetencyPrevious experience in Clinical Nurse III or Clinical Nurse IV level preferred.Additional Information
