Hospitality Captain - The Landmark, NYC
**Job Purpose:** The Tiffany & Co. Waitstaff Captain plays a key role in delivering an exceptional store experience by providing attentive and friendly service to clients. Responsibilities include overseeing junior staff, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring client satisfaction in a fast-paced luxury environment. This role upholds The Landmark’s commitment to quality, hospitality, and professionalism, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a passion for customer service are essential. This role is based out of The Landmark and is not affiliated with the Blue Box Café. **Create and Coordinate Exceptional Client Experiences & Hospitality:** + Deliver exceptional attention to clients at the start of their Tiffany journey and ensure outstanding hospitality throughout their visit. + Anticipate clients’ needs by learning their preferences and partnering with client advisors to offer food and beverage choices accordingly. + Proficient in delivering exceptional fine dining service for small and large dining experiences, while demonstrating knowledge of food and wine and understanding the nuances of formal service and customer interaction. + Professional communication skills with both customers and the kitchen staff. + Must have the ability to provide clear explanations of dishes, suggest pairings, and engage with clients politely is essential. + Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining high standards is essential. + Coordinate and lead daily activities of the waitstaff team. + Accurate description of menu items to clients/guests, take orders, and provide service + Supervise hospitality areas and ensure their operational efficiency. + Ensure the continuous readiness of hospitality spaces, equipment, and supplies to accommodate any unexpected requests. + Assist in placing orders, receiving, and distributing necessary supplies. + Support the team with various activities to facilitate seamless and elevated client experiences during appointments and day-to-day business. + Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism, and a pleasant demeanor. **Optimize the Environment:** + Maintain the general upkeep and appearance of hospitality-related areas within the store. + Coordinate hospitality supply inventory, including replenishment needs, order processing, and optimal storage organization. + Communicate effectively and take initiative when cleaning is required before and after selling appointments. + Maintain clean and organized hospitality areas. + Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service, and seating areas, staying up to date on all safety and hygiene policies. + Assist with special projects and events as needed. **Develop Industry Knowledge:** + Develop an understanding of the store and its products to convey Tiffany’s heritage and values. + Engage clients by storytelling and sharing key historical and brand-related information. + Understand and comply with security and operational procedures. + Stay current on industry news and local/global competition to support boutique business coordination. + Share and collaborate on best practices. **Be an Ambassador:** + Uphold Tiffany’s cultural values, projecting an approachable and professional image in appearance, manner, and demeanor. + Contribute to a positive and productive environment, fostering a highly collaborative network. **Industry Experience:** + Minimum of 3 years previous experience in fine dining or upscale restaurants/hotels is preferred. + Experience in customer service or food service positions is also beneficial. + Previous experience in luxury retail or the service industry is a plus. **Technical Skills & Abilities:** + Strong computer skills and proficiency in technology. + Fluency in multiple languages (e.g Spanish, French). **Certifications:** + ServSafe Certification (for food safety): + Wine Certifications (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers) + Hospitality Management Certifications + Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Barista Training **Personal Skills:** + Must manage multiple tasks efficiently, particularly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment like a fine dining restaurant. + Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills. + Strong commitment to the highest client service standards and priorities. + Ability to work retail store hours as necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays. + Willingness to travel for special events and training as needed. + Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. + Ability to handle sensitive matters with efficiency and discretion. + Excellent organizational and time management skills. + Detail-oriented and highly organized. + Flexibility to perform different tasks based on day-to-day business needs. + Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset, flexibility, and autonomy. + Strong commitment to fostering a team environment and collaboration. + Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks effectively. + Must have authorization to work in the United States or in the country where the position is based. The hiring range for this position ranges from $33.66 - $45.54.
