Job Summary: Oversee all assignments and work orders for the complete execution of the Historic Preservation Maintenance program at Grand Canyon-South Rim. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $26.80 per hour Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Housing: Eligible for a 1-bedroom apartment. Responsibilities Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the scheduling, planning, and supervision of all Historic Preservation Maintenance in Xanterra’s Grand Canyon National Park Land Assignment. Plan, schedule and manage the workload and materials for the repair and cyclic maintenance of various historic structures within Grand Canyon South Rim, ensuring that all NEPA 106 regulations and historic programmatic requirements are followed. Perform periodic building inspections of all historic structures for the identification of Deferred Maintenance to be cured by the Historic Preservation Maintenance crew. Prioritize maintenance work appropriately, and develop short term and multi-year plans for the cure of all deferred maintenance. Document and manage deferred maintenance with the CMMS. Write weekly technical reports on work accomplished in the prior period, and work planned in the current and future periods. Ensure all work is performed to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines. Actively manage performance related concerns and issues on the HPM team, and cultivate a high performance work environment. Assist tradesmen in their daily work activities as needed, and mentor less tenured team members in the development of their historic preservation skills. Conduct the necessary research to procure the tools and materials specific to the trade and fabric of the buildings. Assist the Maintenance Manager as needed in HPM staff selection and performance evaluations. Care, maintenance and security of all assigned equipment, tools, work area and work vehicles. Schedule construction tasks and ensure the timely arrival of materials and equipment. Train individual crewmembers in specific preservation techniques. Organize and outsource training as necessary. Enforce, comply with and maintain company safety standards and health requirements, including all training and PPE requirements. This position requires the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations. Responsible for storage, accountability, and proper disposal of building materials. Review project designs and compile & submit comments to the Engineering Director, Maintenance Manager and NEPA Coordinator. Responsible for coordinating activities with the Engineering Management and Location Management teams. Maintain project schedules and daily logs of ongoing project activity. Comply with all company and NPS environmental policies and procedures. Commit to and practice the Company’s Environmental Policies and Procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum seven years experience in Historic Preservation, with comprehensive knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines. Demonstrated skill in planning, producing and maintaining professional quality preservation work. Previous management experience preferred, with strengths in organizational and leadership skills. Knowledge of uniform building codes pertinent to Historic Preservation. Knowledge of the historic aspects of Grand Canyon National Park facilities and the specific techniques utilized in the preservation of these assets. Knowledge of the National Park Service procedures and requirements in regards to historical structures. OSHA Competent in scaffolding, fall protection, lead, and asbestos or be able to achieve this designation. Basic knowledge of construction, specialized trade skills and their current codes. Ability to read blue prints. Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date, obtain a CDL license within 90 days of start date, and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
