HIM Tech/Specialist2,Health Information Management Job Type: Full-time Assistsphysicians and other medical personnel in achievingtimely,accurate, and complete documentation practices. Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following: * Assembles and analyzes the record for chart completion deficiencies,in accordance withregulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations. * Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to theappropriate medicalstaff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes. * Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies asappropriate. * Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality. * Performs release of informationin accordance withHIPAA and state release of information laws. * Performs daily scanning duties of patient charts into electronic health record and quality assurance audits to ensureappropriate locationwithin record. * Performs all State of TN monthly and quarterly reporting. * Identifiesunapproved forms,establishesbarcodeneedand distributes to appropriate staff. * Provides Iron Mountain support to include scheduling of pick-up, record retrieval and has master access for this process for all SRMC facilities. * Works unbilled WQ as assigned to includeIMmodaltranscription services and unbilled queues. * Primary contact foreRequestsfor Oncology records. * Providers training to new hires on all tasks assigned. * Handles TPE requests including notification toappropriate partiesthroughout the organization. * Primary contact for verification and reconciliation of alltelepyschvisits to allowappropriate payment. * Assistswith cancer registry processes. * Provides back-up for physician dictionary inMedHost, Merging duplicate accounts, and physician fax number changes. * Additionalduties as assigned.
