We are looking for a dedicated HIM Specialist like you to be a part of our team. **Job Summary and Qualifications** Responsible for facilitating the collection of patient preoperative documentation. Ensure all required documents are received, validated, and indexed to the appropriate patient eChart prior to any scheduled pre-admission testing and/or surgical event. Provide timely, professional support services to key stakeholders, aiding in the highest level of patient care services for six HCA Denver Market hospitals. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Job Responsibilities & Job Knowledge · Retrieve patient information that is stored in an electronic format. · Work in collaboration with facility PreAdmission Testing staff so as to retrieve information that may be hand-delivered to the facility (e.g. labs, H&Ps, EKGs, etc.). · Index all incoming faxes, scans, and virtually printed documents to patient folders in or our eChart software in such a way that ensures patient, surgery date, account number, and document expiration date are correctly noted. · Conduct a quality check of processed material to ensure that all patient information has been processed correctly. · Responsible for checking surgery schedule, Meditech and Outlook email accounts, flagged electronic charts, and voicemail daily per policy. · Maintain or exceed productivity and accuracy · Maintain or exceed established quality standards. · Promptly report issues or trends to Coordinator. · Assist in cross-training other employees as necessary. · Adhere to HIPAA/HITECH Regulations by the confidentiality of all patient, client, and facility information at all times, both while on and off duty. · Assist in maintaining all equipment and supplies required in the provision of services in optimum operational status (i.e. calling for repair, ordering and changing out consumables). · Ensure that all needed processing material (paper supplies, pens, markers, etc.) are in supply and proactively inform appropriate person(s) when additional material is needed. · Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.” · Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION · Meet basic reading, writing, and comprehension requirements. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Computer Science, Business or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. EXPERIENCE · Minimum of 1 year general office/clerical experience required. · Experience in healthcare or computer science preferred. · Experience in quality analysis or audits preferred.
