Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Highway Engineer, we'll count on you to:

Design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activitiesPerform quantity calculationsPrepare specifications and contract documentsPerform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and proceduresMake decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as neededFunction as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this positionSupervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as neededPerform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degreeExperience in general civil engineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license.Demonstrated leadership and communication skillsAptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering such as InRoads, Siteworks, Hecras, etcProficient with Microsoft OfficeGood verbal and written communication skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Previous work experience with Cal Trans/Local Cities projects (studies and design) is preferred.
