The role
As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll transport assets including goods, parts and vehicles to customer sites.
 
Day-to-day in addition to driving, duties may include planning delivery schedules and routes, loading, and unloading goods, parts or vehicles, moving vehicles in the yard, fuelling vehicles, loading vehicles, and other activities onsite.
 

Planning delivery schedules and routes with transport managers  The safe transportation of goods or vehicles to desired destination – nationwide Following traffic reports and changing your routes if necessary  Completing delivery paperwork and logbooks Supervising or helping to load and unload goods or vehicles and making sure loads are safely secured

 
This position involves manual work and working at height. This could include lifting, bending, or standing for extended periods of time and performing tasks at varying heights.  This role is not driving 100% of the time and driving days will vary each week depending on business needs.
 
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based at Walsall. Core hours are 7am-4pm Monday-Friday but there will be a requirement to start early (4am) on driving days.  

 

On rare occasions there might be a requirement to stay away from home (hotel and expenses paid)

 

Essential experience of the HGV Class 1 Driver:

Excellent driving skills and road safety knowledge Experience of Heavy Goods Delivery transporting vehicles Experience of the planning and delivery of goods and/or products Good attention to detail and ability to work as a team, or on own initiative

 
Qualifications for the HGV Class 1 Driver:

Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Full HGV Driving License with no more than 6 points (Category C & C+E) Valid Drivers Tachograph Card

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and NPPV security clearance for this role.
