The Role 

Our Health and Benefits (H&B) business helps large and mid-size clients control healthcare plan costs, improve health outcomes, and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions.  We provide solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support, compliance, and governance strategies.

As a Healthcare Consultant collaborating with clients in South Africa, you will consult and broker on a wide variety of complex projects involving the design, pricing, funding, implementation and management of a full array of healthcare programme’s including Medical Aid, Primary Care, Gap Cover and Wellbeing. You will serve as the project manager and day to day communication liaison with our clients, create client deliverables, contribute to client management and new business activities, and participate in the creation of new intellectual capital.

Performance Objectives:

Clients

Deliver superior, consistent client management and deliverables for assigned clients: Draft statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams. Oversee the day-to-day projects, ensuring the progress of the established objectives, budgets, timelines, deliverables and quality standards. Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services. Manage client expectations and solve problems. Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects.

Excellence

Provide valued-added consulting expertise on large, sophisticated projects as well as small and medium sized enterprises, including health plan re-design, pricing and funding and employee contributions strategies, benchmarking studies and negotiations, plan renewals and vendor analysis and management. Contribute to projects within the Health and Benefits arena including health management and wellness. Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches for complex clients.

Financial

Meet revenue goals established with your manager. Support the generation of new business by enhancing relationships with current clients and recommending new projects and solutions. Participate in prospecting opportunities with new clients as part of a broader team. Directly contribute to clients’ success through applying your technical expertise

 

People

Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams. Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels. Coach colleagues in the region on the nuances of the role and coverage.

The Requirements

10+ years’ experience and success in the design/management of corporate healthcare plans gained in a consulting, brokerage, or insurance (carrier) environment.Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.Demonstrated success in managing client issues and relationships, preferred experience in growing relationships with current clients.Strong interpersonal and team skills.Polished and well developed oral and written communication skills.Initiative-taker attitude and ability to work with ambiguity. Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.Strong analytical and creative skills.FAIS compliant, Regulatory exam (5) certificate (NQF Level 5 minimum)South African Citizen or holder of Permanent Residency in South AfricaWorking knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, MS WordBachelor’s Degree or insurance industry related Diploma preferred.
