The incumbent will be required to work at various sites with a scheduled or advance notification of changes. This is a highly skilled position which requires an expert understanding of the Federal WIC and Nutrition Program and the use of the WIC FL-WiSE System with minimal supervision. Having successfully completed the Florida Clerical and Paraprofessional Training modules, will assist in providing quality nutrition services to WIC participants in compliance with the Federal Regulations. The incumbent is expected to promote cooperation, courtesy, and teamwork, in a diverse environment and as an employee of the Marion County WIC program. Maintains current knowledge of the Federal WIC program regulations including WIC memos, WIC FL-WiSE system guide and the DOH Manual 150-24. Accurately compiles and records income, demographic and other information necessary to determine WIC program eligibility and advises WIC participants of their rights and obligations according to federal guidelines. Ensures that the Florida voter registration group or individual completed accurately. Issue EBT card benefits. Conducts secondary low risk nutrition education contacts in relationship with staff and the public. Assist in decreasing non-participation by contacting clients for appointments who appear on related reports such as the No Show and Clients eligible for benefits reports. Obtains accurate data on height and weight measurement on women, infants, and children. Performs hematocrit/hemoglobin testing and records results electronically. Cleans equipment and area where blood work is done daily. Maintains “universal precautions: in completing clinic HST function. Follows established guidelines and standards for safety in handling equipment, biological specimens, and waste products to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens. Completes lab/anthropometric and immunization sections in electronic system. Promotes and support breastfeeding initiative. Reads, understands, and implements directives and other duties as assigned. Completes and submits time sheets, EARS, and travel accurately and according to established division and agency guidelines Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + bility to perform arithmetic calculations, and perform anthropometric, hematological processes. + Knowledge of the procedures and practices for receiving and disbursing WIC EBT cards. + Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures. + Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner, maintain records, organize, and coordinate work assignments, communicate, maintain effective working relations and good rapport. + Knowledge of the Florida Clerical and Paraprofessional WIC modules Qualifications: Minimum - Experience with using Excel, Word, Microsoft Office Suite, or any other computer programs Valid Driver License and willing to travel from site to site Prior Experience scheduling or rescheduling appointments, screening for eligibility or determining program eligibility Experience providing customer service in a clerical setting to a diverse customer base Preferred - Bilingual- Fluent in Spanish Experience in obataining Lab and Anthropometric measurements Prior Experience working with children Florida Department of Health Mission, Vision, and Values: Mission: To protect, promote & improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county & community efforts.
