The role
As a Health Safety Environment Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will identify opportunities for continuous health, safety and environmental learning for improvement including setting targets and programmes.


Day-to-day, you’ll provide advice on working practices and arrangements to ensure that the work activities are undertaken safely and in compliance with company arrangements and applicable legislation.

Support the health and safety manager in the development of practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health, safety and environment and safe working practices. Provide advice on the development of safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure that they identify and take account of all relevant hazards and consider how risks could be reduced. Support the audit manager on the management and delivery of the overall Cavendish Nuclear health, safety and environmental audit programme and maintain records of findings and reports. Carry out regular workplace inspections and informal walkabouts to monitor implementation of policies and procedures.

 

This role is full time role, 37 hours per week, based at Seascale and requires some travel to Whitehaven. This role is flexible, the successful candidate can start between 7am-9am on Mon-Fri, with a lunchtime finish on Friday. 


Essential experience of the Health Safety Environment Specialist:

Have a proven track record preferably gained within a similar role in the Nuclear or other highly regulated high hazard industry. Good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety regulations and legislation. Basic knowledge of the requirements of the Nuclear site licence and environmental permitting arrangements. Good working knowledge and application of ISO 45001 and 14001.


Qualifications for the Health Safety Environment Specialist:

Level 3 accredited health and Safety Qualification. BSC Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 3 Health and Safety at Work. NEBOSH General Certificate. Professional Trainers Certificate or Train the Trainer accreditation would be advantageous.

 

Security Clearance
