The role
As a Health Physics Monitor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will carry out Health Physics Monitoring duties to ensure the Company complies with the Ionising Radiation Regulations regarding radiological protection, radioactive waste management, environmental safety, and Nuclear Emergency Arrangements.
Day-to-day, you’ll support to the dismantling of our legacy nuclear submarines and other nuclear related projects at Rosyth. This is a key role in demonstrating compliance with company and regulatory requirements and is critical to the success of these projects.
Environmental sampling and monitoring Clearance / reassurance monitoring of equipment / waste from radiologically Controlled Areas Acting as part of our on-site emergency response team.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Health Physics Monitor
To comply with company safety and environmental policies and to work as part of the Radioactive Waste & Health Physics team. Motivation and ability to work alone on shifts Significant practical experience
Qualifications for the Health Physics Monitor
NVQ Level 2 Diploma Radiation Safety Practice, or City & Guilds Stage 1 Radiation & Safety Practice, or Submarine Medical Branch Ratings 1 Course ME841 (MASM1). Clean driving licence
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
