Health Information ROI Specialist (Bilingual Preferred)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES \n

Works in collaboration with the clinical directors and HIM Compliance Manager to provide support for the Health Information Management Department. The HIM Specialist will process and validate Release of Information requests for all types of requestors: patients, health care providers, insurance companies, and attorneys\/legal authorities. Responsible for preparing and disclosing PHI (Protected Health Information) pursuant to the authorization for release and in accordance with Organizational, State, Federal, and HIPAA guidelines. \n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\n


1. Medical record scanning preferred.
2. Experience with, knowledge of, and ability to apply established professional customer service
concepts, principles, and practices.
3. Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
4. Proficient computer skills.
5. Keen organizational skills.\n


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n


1. 1 year experience in the medical field with working knowledge of HIPAA, medical terminology, and
Release of Information.
2. 2 years' experience in a Health Information Management or Medical Records department.
3. A thorough understanding of the functions of an Electronic Medical Record and user experience with
at least one EMR system.
4. Previous experience scanning documents into an electronic database.
5. Successful completion of a medical office program, accredited health records program, and\/or ROI
certification (or equivalent related work experience).
6. Bilingual.
7. Experience working with homeless or migrant populations.
