What You'll Do: + Lead Investigations & Resolve Grievances: Be the go-to expert, managing patient grievances with professionalism and compassion, ensuring swift and fair resolution. + Champion Compliance & Equity Initiatives: Implement language access, communication procedures, and reasonable modifications to ensure every patient is heard and supported. + Drive Health Literacy & Awareness: Collaborate with clinical teams and marketing to co-create patient education materials that are clear, accessible, and effective. + Engage Across Departments: Work closely with Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and Quality teams to resolve complex cases involving discrimination in healthcare. + Interface with State and Federal Agencies: Serve as the primary contact for state surveyors and regulatory authorities. Ensure all patient notices and wall posters reflect the latest compliance standards. + Support Continuous Improvement: Participate in clinical rounds, audits, and leadership committees to share insights and enhance the grievance resolution process. What We're Looking For: + Required: + A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of experience managing patient grievances and investigations. + Preferred: + Health Equity Certification or CPHRM Certification. + Top Skills: + Exceptional organizational abilities with a self-starter mindset. + Critical thinking and prioritization skills to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. + Strong interpersonal communication and diplomacy to navigate sensitive situations with tact and professionalism. + Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, plus the flexibility to learn new software as needed. Qualifications: + Minimum of one (1) of the following required: + Bachelor’s degree in related field. + Minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing patient grievances and investigations. + Health Equity certification or CPHRM Certification preferred. + Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. + Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. + Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Job Specific Duties: + Performs job duties below as set forth in the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR): + Receives, reviews, and processes grievances, filed under the grievance procedure as set forth in § 92.8(c). + Coordinates the covered entity’s recordkeeping requirements as set forth in § 92.8(c). + Coordinates effective implementations of the covered entity’s language access procedures (LEP) as set forth in § 92.8(d). + Coordinates effective implementation of the covered entity’s effective communication procedures as set forth in § 92.8(e). + Coordinates effective implementation of the covered entity’s reasonable modification procedures as set forth in § 92.8(f). + Coordinates training of relevant employees (whose roles and responsibilities entail interacting with patients) as set forth in § 92.9. + Complies with CMS Age Friendly Hospital Measure. + Partners with clinical stakeholders and marketing/communications to co-develop patient education materials following key health literacy principles. + Coordinates investigations collaboratively with key departments such as Human Resources, Risk Management, Quality, Patient Experience, Compliance, and Legal as applicable to complaints involving discrimination based on race, color, national origin, disability, age, and sex in healthcare. + Reports related and substantiated allegations to Logan Health Office of Compliance which reports to appropriate authorities/government, as required by law. + Serves as the main point of contact for state surveyors and other state/federal agencies. + Coordinates with the marketing team to review and ensure clinic and hospital required wall posters and patient notices are up to date and displayed in patient areas per department procedures. + Annually and timely adheres to the HHS Section 1557 Compliance Attestation to receive annual Civil Rights. + Participates in administrative clinical rounds and committees to ensure communication with hospital leadership related to grievance resolution process. + Participates in related auditing and monitoring activities. Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership. Shift: Day Shift - 8 Hours (United States of America) Schedule Details: Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs. Schedule: Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
