The work will be challenging, but always rewarding. **It’s Work That Matters.** **Overview** **Health Education Associate I - Substance Use Prevention** **Schedule:** 9:00am - 5:30pm **Purpose Statement/Position Summary:** Responsibilities of the Health Education Associate I include conducting outreach activities, identifying community resources, delivering individual and or group health education services , distributing outreach materials, directly contacting targeted community members. Responsible for data collection, as needed, for program evaluation. The Health Education Associate I in Substance Use Prevention will lead substance use prevention efforts in Northeast Los Angeles by providing services to high school students and their families. Key responsibilities include developing students' leadership and advocacy skills, delivering substance use prevention curricula, and conducting outreach through health fairs, speaking engagements, media campaigns, and environmental initiatives. The role also involves coordinating with multiple agencies and implementing community-based strategies to prevent and reduce at-risk substance use behaviors. **Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** 2+ years of community outreach experience. Experience working with adolescents strongly preferred. Local travel to events required and must be able to lift and transport items to community events; reliable transportation and a valid CA driver's license highly preferred. General knowledge of family systems, health and safety, and parent education are a must. Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred. **Education/Licensure/Certification:** High School Diploma or GED. College education preferred. **Pay Scale Information** $35,984.00-$59,082.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
