The Gist

The SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) Coordinator has the important role of protecting both the workers & workplace, and ensuring the organization is compliant with federal, state, and local safety and environmental requirements. This position’s primary functions are to support the SHE Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring Lagunitas’ environmental, health and safety programs. This role will operate Monday-Friday FULLY ON-SITE and requires occasional flexibility for start times to come in Early/Late to meet with 2nd and 3rd shift teams a few times a month. 

 

What You’ll Do

Train employees and managers on how to meet Lagunitas specific environmental, health, and safety programs/policies Administer industrial hygiene and ergonomic programs. Survey and document workplace noise, air quality and workstation ergonomics as needed to comply with OSHA regulations and injury prevention. Ensure facilities, machinery and equipment is regularly inspected against OSHA regulatory requirements such as walking/working surfaces, ladders, exit requirements, fire code, NFPA 70E electrical safety, machine guarding, hazardous materials storage, etc. Implement appropriate control measures to mitigate identified risks. Manage environmental permits, reports, and sampling/surveys (Air pollution, refrigerant management, Hazardous Waste, Storm Water Pollution Prevention.) Monitor personal protective equipment compliance program. Ensure that hazardous materials are correctly permitted, stored, and labeled. Organize and lead Lagunitas safety committee meetings Implement and train on emergency response Training Stakeholders in proper reporting of accidents and incidents Experience of continuous improvement methodology – e.g. 5S, Kaizen Conduct investigations and root cause analysis of accidents and unsafe working conditions. Ensure PDCA is followed for corrective actions Update management on HeiQuest, Global Calls to Action and other key safety performance benchmarks Maintain audits, inspections, permits, and safety & environmental documentation. Monitor and revise job hazard analysis and standard operating procedures as needed. Schedule, present, and monitor safety training program. Manage training database and training reports. Continuing education in safety training classes and maintaining a current understanding of all state, local and federal safety regulation updates. Attend workshops as needed. Provide feedback to employees on safety suggestions and improvements from Near Misses. Contribute to other Brewery Operations activities and other special projects as needed.

 

What We’re Lookin’ For

A bachelor's degree in environmental or occupational safety & health or related field is desired. 2+ years’ experience in areas such as environmental health, industrial hygiene, or safety. Knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety laws. Experience coaching, training and facilitating safety programs Behavior Based Safety (BBS) Mindset Acts as a role model to influence, shape behaviors & connect with teams & people. Flexibility to respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize, meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Proficient in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Physical Stuff

Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator. Work environment is indoors, outdoors and in production environment. Ability to crawl, climb, bend, twist, turn, and stoop. Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs
