About the opportunity\:
Devonport Royal Dockyard is part of the largest naval base in Western Europe, and is the only site in the UK licensed to undertake submarine deep maintenance. Amentum is proud to have supported the site for over two decades, providing a wide range of project, safety, engineering and technical services, and has been involved in the design and substantiation of a large proportion of the site’s existing facilities and marine structures.
Today, we are a strategic supplier to the site, committed to providing value-adding support through long-term frameworks, and working collaboratively to deliver a significant programme of infrastructure upgrades, which will underpin the UK’s strategic defence capability for decades to come. The individual would need to be southwest based, with on-site requirement estimated 3 days a week. SC cleared (or able to obtain it) and ideally sole UK national. The Health, Safety and Environment in Design Lead is accountable to the MIP Design Authority for ensuring the minimisation of health, safety and environmental risk associated with and throughout the design phase of a project. This ensures that risks are appropriately managed and where possible eliminated prior to the construction, operational and decommissioning phases of any project.
Confirm that the Amentum DRDL processes and procedures associated with MIP projects are followed to ensure consistency and clarity of delivery throughout the MIP Portfolio of Projects. Provide design focussed health and safety advice/support throughout the MIP Portfolio and with relevance to all lifecycle phases, including construction, facility operations, maintenance and decommissioning/disposal. Development and integration of design related health and safety with BIM/software tools, in collaboration with IT Tools Team. Attend design reviews at all design stages to ensure health and safety input Request the necessary support from the Design Manager within the constraints of budget and in accordance with the project strategy. Liaise with the Design Manager to prioritise assigned projects/work packages. A degree or Level 6 qualification (NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ) in Occupational Safety and Health Ideally Chartered Professional, registered with relevant body. Understanding of Amentum design process, with respect to infrastructure/facilities engineering. Comprehensive experience of minimising infrastructure related health and safety hazards Extensive experience in health and safety relating to design development and implementation with respect to conventional infrastructure/facilities.
