The primary responsibility will be to manage the London-based UK office until the target end of 2025. This role focuses on optimizing processes, including resource allocation, financial control, and team time management. The input to the win strategy is vital for our UK growth plan. The position requires 2-3 days per week in our London office, depending on client and internal needs. In the remaining time, it will require to develop a plan to expand into Ireland through JLL and external client network. After successfully establishing the UK operations, it'll shift focus to the Irish market, primarily generating fees through office sector design projects. It'll maintain oversight of the UK operations and continue attending London meetings as necessary.
As head of design department, he/she will be ultimately responsible for the creative output of the business and the strategy for design projects. She/he will lead, guide, mentor, manage and support the team of interior designers, technicians and visualisers. Excellent management, communication and presentation skills are a pre-requisite combined with a keen understanding of the design process and commercial nature of a turnkey design and build business.
Responsibilities:
Have full responsibility for the smooth running of the design team including workload planning and allocation; people leadership, management and development; ensuring quality control while driving creativity and innovation in everything we produce.To manage design leads in Ireland and coordinate responses to RFPs using existing resources in UK and South Africa.Be the figurehead for design within the EMEA PDS/tetris business and an active member of the senior management team in the UK. In addition, you will be expected to publicise and promote Tétris design capabilities internally throughout JLL, being able to fluently communicate Workplace Consultancy, Design and Environmental philosophies and abilities. As sustainability lead for Tétris you will participate in JLL working groups and drive sustainability initiatives through the Tétris business, leading sustainability champions from across the team.In addition to management duties, you will also have sole responsibility to conceptualise creative interior designs for your own projects. This includes:Developing the client brief through client interview, data collection and building appraisalAppraising client working methods through workplace consultancy practices to make recommendations for workplace transformation.To collaborate with the Tetris Furniture SolutionsTo oversee multiple design projects simultaneouslyPreparing pitch documents and presentations including briefing and managing designers, visualisers, graphic designers and design assistantsWinning work by presenting personal and team designs in a competitive pitch situationTo lead, mentor, develop a team of designersAttending site meetings where possibleTo allocate resources effectively and to manage budgetsEstablish standards and guidelinesTo set a relationship of trust with the build team and all other departmentsReport financial performance on monthly basisLiaising with technical designers, suppliers and subcontractors to manage and develop the design through each stage of the process from conception to completion.
