Job Description

Old Mutual Insure is looking for a forward-thinking Head: Consolidated Reporting.

Responsible for managing the end-to-end consolidated reporting processes, including quarterly, interim and year end reporting and the accounting technical function for the Old Mutual Insure group.

You would:

Responsible for managing the end-to-end consolidated reporting processes including quarterly, interim and year end reporting processes: 

Oversee the consolidation of the Old Mutual Insure financial results and financial position and ensure they are prepared in accordance with IFRS.Manage the end to end preparation and submission of the entity and consolidated results on HFM/One Stream and all related offline collectors to support Group reporting and the related external disclosures and ensure that this is done on time and is accurate and complete.Manage the OM Insure consolidation and ensure that the appropriate reconciliations, proofs and controls are in place to manage the process and that this agree to the final submission.  Work with the BPP and subsidiary teams to align on the treatment of KPI’s and definitions.Responsible for ensuring that the submissions into HFM are in accordance with the Group mapping tables and comply with IFRS.  Drive the development of the financial statement templates, the preparation of OMI’s group financial statements and coordinate the preparation of company financial statements by relevant subsidiary financial managers.With the Business Performance Partnering team, manage the end to end reporting process and lead regular update sessions during key reporting periods to track progress, understand potential delays and risks, implement the necessary steps to mitigate these and escalate where required.Responsible to lead the debrief process post year end and drive initiatives to improve the reporting process and helping create efficiencies, including the submission process for the IFRS 17 overlay.Set work processes and procedures to optimise consolidation reporting processes.Manage the CFO sign off process of the financial results and position in advance of Group submission. Responsible for managing the external audit of the above the processes and address key issues raised by them and within the agreed timelines.Prepare Audit Committee packs in order to support the sign off of the financial results and position in advance of Group submission. Attendance at said meetings to present the consolidated results for approval.

Accounting technical

Responsible for the accounting technical function and management of key issues and concluding on the appropriateness thereof. Drafting accounting technical memorandums in order to support these and ensuring that external audit sign off on key judgements and conclusions.Ownership of accounting policies and ensure that these are in compliance with Group policies and applied consistently by the subsidiaries/business in preparation of there financial results and financial position.Preparation of Audit Committee reporting to obtain sign off on any key judgements. Attendance at said meetings to present the judgements for sign off.Responsible for managing future accounting technical developments. For impacts to the business, ensuring that there is a clear implementation plan and process in place to ensure compliance by the effective date.

Implementation of future accounting consolidation system

Lead and manage the implementation of the new consolidation system for OM Insure. This will include ensure that the set up is in line with any process improvements underway in OM Insure and setting up the required local functionality, for example, use of Financial Statement capability. Manage the roll out of the tool to the subsidiary entities to ensure they are appropriately upskilled to use the system.

Ensure cost efficiency through financial and corporate governance

Contribute to the development and implementation of fit for purpose budgets.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Relevant Bachelor’s degree, preferably CA (SA).8 - 10 years’ internal/external financial reporting experience.Strong IFRS and financial reporting, audit & compliance knowledge.
