Head of Compliance Strategy and Governance

Do you want to be part of a collaborative Compliance Legal Team? You will primarily be responsible for overseeing large scale Compliance-wide projects, the compliance risk assessment program, and provide leadership in advancing change that ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. You will play a key role in continuing to advance the evolution and maturity of the Compliance program. **You will** + Oversee the Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA) program, including the system(s), planning, and tracking. Requires close partnership with the Compliance leadership team as well as Compliance Risk Monitoring team. + Lead strategic projects at the direction and agreement of the CECO that are critical to the achievement of the multi-year strategic plan. + Be flexible to lead non-strategic projects, planned and ad hoc (there is often a need to shift priorities to work on a “hot topic” project or initiatives), as needed and directed by the CECO or other members of the Compliance leadership team. + Demonstrate strong project management skills, including project tracking, succinct and timely status reports, and presentation of updates to the CECO and other leaders. + Partner with the CECO in strategic planning and objective setting process for the Compliance team, including the leadership team meetings that take place throughout the year to support the overall strategy and key initiatives. + Production of reports, dashboards, and summaries for the CECO, including but not limited to CRA, action plans, budget, objectives, accomplishments, etc. + Partner with the CECO, Compliance leadership, and Legal Operations team in the execution of the technology and data strategic plan. This may include partnership with team members in creating business cases and facilitating funding (initial and ongoing) requests. + Partner with the CECO in coordinating the Board of Director and Committee quarterly updates, and any other ad-hoc updates as-needed. + Partner with the CECO and the Ethics program office owner in continuously enhancing the ethics program through the development and coordination of training, communications, etc. + Oversee and maintain certain Corporate Compliance owned policies and respective procedures including associated governance processes and escalations. + Oversee a governance process to ensure broader Compliance owned policy updates, standard operating procedures, KRIs, Inside Guardian Compliance related content updates, etc. are properly maintained. + Partner with Legal Operations to complete the Law-Operational Risk annual assessment. + Partner with CECO on continuous benchmarking/engagements of the Compliance program and implementation of improvement opportunities. + Provide budget input for the CECO (and broader Compliance Leadership team) and Legal Operations as needed. **You have** + 10 plus years of experience, in the compliance, risk/controls insurance industry. + An undergraduate degree is required. + Proven influencing and relationship building skills; ability to establish credibility with senior colleagues across the organization. + The ability to identify and communicate “tough issues” or conflict situations while using well-developed influencing skills to work effectively across multiple organizations and establish a cooperative team environment. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills for multiple audiences including staff, management, and senior executives. + Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects, priorities and meet competing deadlines – deep project management skills are necessary. + High degree of organization, autonomy, and self-motivation, demonstrating initiative and an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency and results orientation. + Ability to structure ambiguous problems and be action oriented to solve them without complete information. + Strong intellectual agility to solve complex business problems and technical issues. + Critical thinking skills with a proven analytical business acumen. **Reporting Relationships** As the Compliance Strategy and Governance Leader, you will report directly to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (CECO). **Location /Travel** Hybrid role: 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH. Preferred location – Hudson Yards, NYC. **Salary Range:** $129,500.00 - $212,750.00 The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
