Head of Business – Store Development

Key Responsibilities:

Develop store design concepts for all TFG Retail Brands, including new concepts and evolutions. Manage, oversee, and facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Monitor and analyse local and global retail store trends. Ensure store designs and operations are future-fit for purpose and function. Oversee store facilities for approximately 3,400 stores, including 22 TFG Retail Brands and 2 international franchise brands. Manage maintenance, essential services, fire and safety protocols, and capital plant replacement. Ensure store electrical power security through landlord generation, TFG inverters, backup batteries, and other forward-looking opportunities. Partner with relevant groups to achieve store sustainability goals and objectives. Handle finance and budgets, including forecasting and projections. Optimise build rates for 22 Retail Brands, ensuring cost-effective value engineering of generic and bespoke development fixtures. Oversee the development and procurement of store fixtures and visual merchandise stock, including storage, stock-turn efficiencies, and managing obsolete stock risk. Source, evaluate, and select suppliers, negotiate contracts, ensure quality control, and manage production capacity and financial stability. Conduct annual supplier scorecard evaluations and ensure BBBEE compliance. Manage data analysis, storage, reporting, asset registers, and development management systems like Rivet and BIM. Lead and develop a team of 52 employees in the development and facilities department. Maintain relationships across all levels of TFG operations, including board members, MDs, heads of retail brands, operations, marketing/visual merchandise, and support services. Ensure compliance with retail store legislation and municipal regulations, including occupation and COC certification. Maintain a timeline-driven mindset to ensure stores are designed, built, on budget, and on time.
 

Qualifications and Experience:

Project or Quality Management or Sourcing/Procurement Tertiary Qualification Senior Development or Ops background Excel, SAP, Microsoft projects or BIM management knowledge 10/15 years Senior Property or Construction Management or Senior Retail Operation Management Quantity Survey experience desirable International retail exposure at senior level Property management experience desirable
