Job Title: Deputy Head - Design Center
Location: Bangalore
Role Summary
We are looking for a senior engineering leader to support our client as Head of Design Center in managing multidisciplinary design teams, streamlining delivery processes, and coordinating with international project stakeholders. The candidate should bring hands-on experience from global firms with design hubs or engineering delivery centers based in Bangalore or Delhi NCR.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Management: Supervise the preparation and review of detailed design, shop drawings, and BIM models across infrastructure domains such as metro, highways, and urban development. Act as a technical lead and reviewer ensuring compliance with client standards and international codes (AASHTO, BS, Eurocodes). Assist in the development of design manuals, QA/QC protocols, and standard operating procedures.
Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day functioning of design teams across various verticals (Structures, Civil, MEP, Geotech, BIM). Oversee resource planning, workload distribution, and cross-discipline coordination. Support the Head in driving digital design initiatives, tool optimization, and automation strategies.
Global Project Interface: Act as a key delivery liaison for international project sites - Middle East, UK, Africa, Southeast Asia, etc. Coordinate with global stakeholders for design submittals, clarifications, and approvals.
People & Process Leadership Mentor mid-level managers and technical teams; support hiring and onboarding of new talent. Monitor productivity, delivery timelines, and design efficiency KP ls; report progress to BU and corporate leadership.
Candidate Profile
Experience 12-20 years in infrastructure design delivery, preferably in a design center leadership or coordination role. Exposure to international infrastructure projects and client-side interface is essential.
Key Skills: Strong understanding of integrated design delivery models and digital workflows (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, etc.). Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and streamline inter-discipline coordination. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Education:
B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Structural, or Infrastructure Engineering
Postgraduate qualifications and certifications in BIM, Project Management, or Digital Engineering are advantageous
