Role overview
This role is accountable for the growth, viability, & profitability of the channel via targeted strategic partnering & support to Retail Intermediaries. The incumbent is accountable for achieving results through other managers and their teams, over periods of 2-5 years. Drives long-term value and change for the channel and segment.
Key Result Areas
Grow target market share, deliver on sales (Life APE, VNB, Revenue from New Solutions) and retention (NCCF) targets and ensure growth in customer numbers and clients.Build and maintain strong and mutually beneficial relationships with Retail Intermediaries.Own and continually co-create / enhance the Intermediary CVP and give them a reason to support our brand.Champion and lead Employee Benefits thought leadership.Analyze and act on strategic opportunities in the market using market insights and competitor analysis.Take decisions that will shift key Distribution Channel levers (Financial, Operational, Strategic, Technology, Data and People).Understand, monitor, and proactively act on the impact of local socio economic, regulatory, technological and industry trends on the Distribution Channel.Develop skill levels and productivity of the team.Ensure commercial soundness and manage expenses.Identify and manage risks to the organisation.Grow number of supporting IMEDsAllocate and utilise all resources in province to ensure that targets are met.Monitor and report on provincial results.Performance manage, coach & mentor direct reports.Ensure team compliance with internal policies and proceduresRepresent and position diverse customer needs within the product development process.Qualifications and Experience required

Leadership and DirectionIdentify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
BudgetingDevelop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
External Partners - Incentive ProgramsManage the incentive program for a specific segment of external partners, implementing strategies to motivate high-level performance.
External Partners - Dispute ManagementManage specific sections of the dispute management process among the organization's external partners, taking action to negate significant operational disruptions.
Training development and deliveryDevelop training courses to meet specific business requirements and performance needs. Support personal transformations by running complex leadership development programs.
Performance ManagementManage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
Organizational Capability BuildingUse the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
