Head: Organisational Effectiveness & Talent
What will you do?

 

A position of Head: Organisational Effectiveness & Talent Management exists in Santam Human Capital team. The position could be based in either Sandton or Bellville.


The Head of Organisational Effectiveness and Talent Management is responsible for leading and driving the strategic direction and execution of the organisational effectiveness centre of expertise, providing best practice thinking and delivery on a broad range of organisation design and development initiatives. This role is also responsible for leading talent management initiatives. This includes overseeing talent development, performance management, leadership development, succession planning, and employee engagement. The role ensures that the organisation's workforce is equipped with the right capabilities, leadership strength, and culture to meet long-term business goals. This position is pivotal in fostering a high-performance environment and ensuring that talent management practices are aligned with the company’s strategic vision.

What will make you successful in this role?

 

Development and implementation, in conjunction with the Executive Head: Human Capital, of an organisational development strategy, covering all areas of OE. Design, delivery and management of all OE related projects and initiatives, both an over-arching Santam level and where needed, at a local business unit level and represent the Santam cluster on Sanlam group OE projects. Drive all organisational culture and engagement initiatives; and develop and implement strategies to narrow the gap between the desired and actual culture. Support the organisation in areas of organisational redesign, team development and change management. Work to drive faster adoption, greater utilisation and higher levels of proficiency around the changes impacting employees in the organisation, in order to support the achievement of business results – working with the Change Management team on large scale projects, and/ or the HCBP function in small initiatives. Facilitate capacity building to enable line management to lead and manage change. Own and improve all practices related to employee performance management, including the policy, governance and process of performance management. Develop and implement the Diversity strategy, ensuring that the management and appreciation of diversity is embedded in the Santam culture through employee and management behaviour. Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive talent management strategy that aligns with the organisation’s business goals and priorities. Implement frameworks for talent identification, development, and retention across the organisation. Drive a culture of continuous learning, performance excellence, and leadership development to ensure a pipeline of future leaders and a high-performing workforce. Ensure that talent development programs are inclusive and cater to diverse employee needs, promoting career growth across all levels of the organisation. Partner with senior leadership to assess and implement succession planning processes, ensuring the right talent is in place for future leadership needs. Postgraduate Degree in Industrial Psychology/Human Resources  Registered with HPCSA (advantageous)  Knowledge and Experience

 

8-10 years’ experience in developing and leading the implementation of OE strategies, programs, frameworks and tools in similar environments. 8-10 years’ experience in talent management or leadership development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.  Knowledge of relevant legislation  Up to date understanding of regulatory changes and translation thereof into Santam  Sound experience in strategic management of organisational change (including the taking of a lead role in conducting major reviews and implementing change management initiatives).  Previous management role in a complex organisation with active experience of organisational development and workforce development. Proven experience designing and leading talent development, leadership development, and succession planning initiatives. Project management experience People management experience Consulting experience preferable in large-scale organisations Demonstrated success in building and delivering on a corporate OE strategy Experience in engaging with key business and external partners across all levels (including senior levels)   Stakeholder management experience Ability to travel regularly Skills
