Job Description

The purpose of the Head, Data role is to translate the Corporate & Investment Banking “CIB” data vision and strategy into applicable data strategies in Transaction Banking to support CIB objectives. To oversee the implementation of the data strategy by coordinating and facilitating data programmes to enable data driven business decisions that are consistent and effective. To enforce governance and compliance, ensuring alignment to the relevant CIB frameworks, policies and standards, including compliance to data protection legislation

Essential Function

Act as the business owner for any localized component of Transaction Banking Data Architecture reviewing and approving design.Act as the business owner for Data Engineering teams that are embedded within Country/BU/CF CIO teams, determining priorities, influencing investment and monitoring delivery.Assess the impact of privacy and other legislation on the data landscape and develop and drive an implementation plan that will ensure awareness and compliance.Collate regulatory data requirements for area of responsibility to identify inadequacies in the existing practices to support compliance to regulatory requirements.Communicate a clear vision and strategy to coordinate the data agenda across Transaction Banking, engaging, educating and negotiating with stakeholders.Co-ordinate and facilitate Data and Information programmes by liaising with the relevant Data stakeholders to identify data assets or business cases that could be prioritized for data monetization and selective investment, thereby enhancing revenue.Create and monitor a profit and loss statement for data activities within area of responsibility and influence data investment decisions to ensure a consistent return on investments.Enable data monetization efforts by deepening the understanding and measurement around Data Value cases and ensuring that the cases are developed and measured as per relevant CIB and SBG standards.Develop, maintain and expand a network of stakeholders / partners to identify opportunities to extract value from data and realize opportunities to enhance revenues.Devise and implement an applicable strategy for Transaction Banking aligned to SBG data strategies and CIB objectives.Drive the standardization of data management practices within area of responsibility in line with organizational frameworks in order to encourage and enable a uniform and consistent view of data across the organization and support the concept of Universal Bank Data Execute the Data Operating model in area of responsibility including the data provisioning layer (DPL) and curated data in support of the single view data domains and ensure the simplification of IT data and information architecture.Keep abreast of relevant policy and legislation to ensure compliance and consistent standards Lead the assurance review process for area of responsibility to verify the degree of compliance policies and standards, and co-ordinate remediation programmes as required.Monitor and maintain CIB minimum standards for data, localizing and supplementing standards and regulations that uphold and maintain the licenses.Represent Transaction Banking at Group Data Committees, forums and priority planning events leverage and socialize the nuanced data requirements for area of responsibility.Influence priority and consideration of these nuances in policy, data platform capability and practice design solutions, while ensuring alignment to policies, standards and governance mandate.Review data capability levels of Transaction Banking and collaborate with stakeholders to develop plans to achieve desired capability state.Facilitate knowledge sharing through various structures such as the guild to strengthen capacity and promote best practice.Support a data driven culture within area of responsibility through coaching, mentoring and motivating the data practitioner community and convert staff into data citizens through education and awareness initiatives to support the journey to increased data self-service. Collate regulatory data protection requirements for the legal entity and ensure compliance to the data protection legislation as well as the Group standards across the legal entity’s functions, identify inadequacies in the existing practices to support compliance to regulatory requirements and Group standards.Oversee embedding of Data Privacy by Design, evaluate new or amended processing activities and inform and advise the business on their data privacy obligations.Engage with regulators and oversee the external reporting of data privacy matters and incidents with data subjects and regulators.

Experience Required
Management
Data & Analytics
3-4 years
Sound understanding of financial analysis and finance information system capabilities. Demonstrated ability to manage Profit and Loss (P&L).

5-7 years
Sound experience in IT capabilities that drive business value creation, Management Information Systems (MIS) and Business Intelligence (BI). Understanding of the impact of implementing information system projects on data management, integration and data analytics.

8-10 years
Sound experience managing functional teams responsible for data management and governance.
