Versar Global Solutions (VGS) seeks a Guardrail Specialist/Quality Control (QC) Inspector to fill a full-time role supporting the VDOT Richmond South interstate maintenance project. The position oversees all aspects of the project’s guardrail program, including work identification, issuance, subcontractor management/oversight, inspection, and administration. Additionally, the position is responsible for Quality Control (QC) inspection of in-house and subcontractor work activities as needed.

*Highway maintenance or construction experience is strongly preferred


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide management, oversight, and inspection of the project’s guardrail inspection, maintenance, and repair program.Serves as the primary point of contact for the project team and guardrail subcontractor for dispatch of work orders, scheduling of repairs, and confirming work is completed on time and per contract standards and specifications.Ensures guardrail-related work orders are correctly entered into VGS’s work order management system and utilized to dispatch subcontractor work. Uploads quantities and photos of work completed and closes all work orders.Responsible for accurately inputting work performed into the Work Order system and verifying work is completed satisfactorily before closing out for Roadway Supervisor review.Supports the data collection of responsible third-party information, including police reports, responsible party identification/insurance, incident photos, hours/resources/costs incurred, and uploads information into work orders for third-party collections.Must be required to perform general highway maintenance activities, including drainage/shoulder clearing, minor repairs of signs/fences/guardrails, landscape maintenance, equipment operation, debris/litter removal, traffic control, and incident management/response.Works and communicates with customers and VDOT personnel, providing polite, quality professional service.Performs Quality Control reviews and inspections of work orders to ensure they are completed according to company and customer requirements.Responsible for the upkeep and functionality of equipment and company vehicles. Use all equipment safely, care for equipment, and notify management of needed repairs.Perform other duties as assigned by management and or required in emergencies.Receiving all required certifications to fill in as backup Incident Management Coordinator.Coordinates with corporate safety resources on policy, investigations, and best practices.Provide backup support for incident management, severe weather management and response, major and minor crashes, hazardous and nonhazardous materials spills, and other related activities. 

Required Qualifications

Three (3) years of highway maintenance or construction experience are strongly preferred.Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation Medical Card.Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and orally with managers and coworkers in EnglishReliable transportation to and from the company office.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly.Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle multiple work orders and daily activities and meet timelines.Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate assignments when appropriate.Ability to self-identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.Willingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime.Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.Ability to work along local roadways, interstates, and or/highways with commuter traffic passing by at varying rates of speed.Ability to adhere to on-call rotation scheduling requirements.Obtain Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certificate (company paid)Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen. Comply with Company Drug and Alcohol policyMust be authorized to work in the US or will be approved by the successful candidate’s start date.
