POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Production Maintenance Laborer is expected to achieve and maintain a level of competency that ensures all equipment relating to the houses, bird productivity, and welfare are maintained at optimum condition. This position will verify parts and supply inventories as well as coordinate maintenance projects and prioritize time lines for completion with the assistant production manager and production manager. All duties should be performed in an exemplary manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide preventative maintenance on all appropriate machine componentsPerform routine inspections on all equipment in the layer department at regular intervalsMust possess and bring with them to work all tools listed on attached tool sheetRepair/replace any broken parts Maintain an organized and safe working environment while adhering to all safety policiesAssist in oversight of new equipment installationRegularly communicate with other layer personnel Alert (within a reasonable time frame) the production manager or assistant manager of any urgent or emergency situation, which require immediate attention or approval Be able to perform essential functions of a house managerFamiliarize self with and conform to all Biosecurity Program Policies.Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to reach areas only accessible by ladder. Must be able to climb to and work on equipment in hard-to-reach areas.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Post-secondary mechanical, technical training or degree desired.Must demonstrate initiative in understanding mechanical functions (i.e., troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and familiarizing themselves with layer house equipment)Computer knowledge is preferred (i.e., working knowledge of Office and spreadsheet programs)Must be dependable, and be available to work flexible hours - including nights and weekends. Must also be available 24 hours to answer emergency calls Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent mannerPossess good decision-making and organizational skills.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.ANIMAL WELFARE COMMITMENT:
