We are seeking an experienced and motivated Group Sales Manager to join our sales team. The ideal candidate will have Marriott brand experience with a proven track record of group driving sales in a hotel or hospitality environment, with a deep understanding of the Houston market. As a Group Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sales plans to bring in additional business to our hotel to increase sales, maximize revenue and achieve the hotel’s group sales objectives. As the Group Sales Manager you will; Report directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing, providing regular updates on financial forecasts, departmental challenges, and resource needs. Generate new business, close deals, and increase revenue by cold calling, on-site visits and sales tours, and community networking Work in collaboration with the Group Sales Team with a focus on the hotel's overall sales goals and strategy. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that drives innovation and results. Primary Strategic Planning & Execution Responsibilities: Research and identify new business opportunities for the hotel including reaching out to event planners and staying abreast of local events. Research each customer’s business, hospitality needs, and identify primary contacts, decision makers and how to get sales closed. Exercise the “wow” factor with originality, creativity, discretion and independent judgment in determining how to assemble an event tailored to the needs and taste of each customer. Achieve expected production numbers established by meeting booking goals and developing outside sales activities. Continuously support customers after signing contract with regular follow ups, assist in solving customer issues, meet commitment deadlines, and be proactive in anticipating any of the customer needs. Conduct yourself as a professional representative of the Marriott and Pyramid Hospitality Brand at various industry tradeshows, conferences, and adhere to the guidelines of the budget and marketing plan. Communicate special group requirements to hotel department heads to ensure seamless execution. Perform additional duties as assigned, requested, or needed by management to support overall hotel operations. Attend the required hotel and departmental meetings and conduct team meetings as necessary. Qualifications 3+ years as a Marriott Brand Sales Manager with verifiable success in sales working in the hospitality industry. Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with clients and team members in the English language. Thorough knowledge of Houston market and sales trends. Strong analytical skills to understand booking patterns, trends, high demand times, and events in the market to identify revenue opportunities. Understands how to communicate, negotiate, and network effectively with customers and interdepartmentally. Good organization and time management skills Strong problem resolution skills & ability to work under pressure Advanced knowledge of all MS Office applications, Google Search, and networking online applications. Strong systems knowledge with exposure to some or all of the following applications is ideal; Marriott Sales Systems / C.I.T.Y; Lanyon, Sabre RFP, etc; Star Report; GDS Willingness to work outside traditional hours to attend industry, client, and community events as necessary, including travel if needed. Education High school diploma or GED Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is highly desired.
