Incumbents must be able to work any shift. **Responsibilities** **Summary** The mission of the Group Leader is to help their team produce a quality product for ourcustomers. To be able to communicate priority information from all areas of the plant to include daily numbers, safety topics, maintenance and quality issues. To run their shift according to standard helping the plant run at optimal efficency. **Essential Duties & Responsibilities** + Under the direction of the Supervisor, oversees the activities of all team employees. + Performs duties in a safe manner; acts as a role model for Safety. + Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible throughactive engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communicationof safety work expectations. + Ensures the safety of all team employees by checking their work areas forsafety/housekeeping hazards and addressing issues immediately. + Reports any infractions to their Supervisor. + Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due toperceived, imminent safety risk. + Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by drivingprioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental,health or safety risks. + Assists Supervisor in conducting preliminary investigations on safety incidents, rootcause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely andthorough manner. + Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, GeneralCommunication, etc.) + Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whomthey are responsible using selected safety topics as identified and assigned by theSafety Manager or their immediate Supervisor. + Reviews and documents daily safety topic discussion at meetings. + Supports team goals and objectives. Assists Supervisor with disseminationinformation and updates to employees. + Organizes and leads employee driven teams to address safety, quality, or otheroperational issues as assigned by Supervisor. + Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequentperformance feedback. Addresses complaints and helps to resolve problems. + Provides input on employee performance appraisals, readiness for promotion,participates and recommends appropriate candidate for vacancies; provides orrecommends training as needed. + Assists with the retention of appropriate documentation. + Attends meetings and provides information to Supervisor in his/her absence. + Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. **Other Skills & Abilities:** In addition to the above, candidates should be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities: + Ability to make practical decisions without appreciable direction or advance preparation. + Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple assignmentssimultaneously. + Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred). + Possess technical aptitude. **Qualifications** **Attributes** • High level communicator and able to foster a team environment • Strong Mechanical Aptitude • Analytical Thinking • Integrity • Independence • Cooperation • Adaptability/ Flexibility **Qualification Requirements** + To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/orability required + Education: Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma orGED is required + Experience: In addition to the educational requirements, previous manufacturing experiencepreferred.
