BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms.  We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with four new regional salad greenhouse hubs breaking ground to begin opening in 2024. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 3,700 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest. 

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining optimal greenhouse growing environments using data-driven techniques. You will implement and monitor environmental strategies to improve consistency in crop yields and quality across BrightFarms’ greenhouses. 

Specifically, you will:   

Work closely with growers to outline climate issues in each greenhouseOptimize strategies for all environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, CO2, and lightMonitor greenhouse climates and develop reporting methods Conduct regular audits of climate systemsIdentify areas for improvement in energy and CO2 usage and execute sustainability strategies Work closely with controls engineers to address control systems issues Implement new climate control technologies and programsCollaborate with stakeholders to define climate program standards and objectives

The ideal candidate:   

B.S. or M.S. in Horticulture, Floriculture, Biology, or related field 5 years working with greenhouse environmental control systems, such as Hoogendoorn and PrivaExperience implementing data-driven growing strategies Ability to work independently and be a self-starterDetail oriented and data driven  Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to collaborate across departments Willingness to travel regularly Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power BI 

Preferred Qualifications 

Data analytics Experience in vegetable crops

Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required / Physical requirements

 Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
