No Duties and Responsibilities A Graduate Student Academic Affairs Coordinator will provide essential administrative student support services to help facilitate the recruitment, retention, and academic success of the School of Education ( SOE ) graduate student population. Primary responsibilities include the following: · Maintaining graduate student files and forms (e.g., capstone forms); ensuring compliance with SOE , Graduate School, and LUC academic policies and procedures as well as alignment across all of these policies · Supporting faculty and program chairs/coordinators in monitoring and documenting student progress towards program completion (i.e., comprehensive exams, completion of required course work) to ensure that required program requirements are met in a timely manner and prior to graduation · Internal SOE support for graduate student accommodations and advocate for student success. Referring students to appropriate campus and off-campus resources to support their academic and professional success · Development and implementation of professional development opportunities and support for graduate students, may include coordination and collaboration with the Graduate School and the SOE Student Development Committee · Coordinate with Assistant Dean in the areas of: o Graduate Student Assessment, Licensure and Degree Audits o New graduate student orientation planning and delivery o Recruitment, Admissions and alumni events o Commencement and graduation events o Retention and persistence, including outreach/advising to active and inactive students and outreach/advising to students on probation or those receiving academic alerts The Graduate Student Academic Affairs Coordinator will be knowledgeable about program requirements as well as University and State licensure requirements, School and University policies, procedures, and key deadlines. Proficiency in various University systems, including but not limited to DocFinity, Business Intelligence, Sakai and Locus, are required. The Graduate Student Academic Affairs Coordinator will be expected to participate in School and/or University Committees, as needed as well as other duties as assigned. The successful candidate in this role must be able to work independently as well as part of a team on various projects. As such, a high level of organization and collaboration is required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: · Bachelors degree · Experience working in education settings Preferred Qualifications: · Master’s degree in education or related field preferred, with at least 2 years of work experience in higher education · Experience working with a diverse graduate-level population · Familiarity of Illinois State Board of Education ( ISBE ) licensing strongly preferred Certificates/Credentials/Licenses N/A Computer Skills Proficiency in various University systems, including but not limited to Sakai and Locus, is required. Additionally, proficiency in Digication and DocFinity is required for the collection and management of relevant data for field work and other ISBE and accreditation needs.
