Short Description

The Graduate Nurse (GN) is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.
The GN holds a temporary emergency RN license and shall be eligible to work only under supervision in an acute care facility licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health. Such supervision may be in the form of a preceptor relationship.

Follows established policies and procedures.

Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.

Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management
and physicians.

Applies Cooper core values. Other duties as required.

The following tasks will not be performed by the GN:
• Procedures not signed off by the RN preceptor or Clinical Educator that requires competency.
• Direct or supervise other healthcare staff.
• Make assignments for other staff.

Overview

Kelemen North and South 9 is a two-sided, seventy-six bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. Our staff care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiac, trauma, gastrointestinal, and psych. Also to support our staff are Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) which help with patient care, through put, and assignments. Nurses who are staffed on Kelemen 9 are required to have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, which will allow competent and safe care for our complex patient populations.


Education Requirements

Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing 
License/Certification Requirements

Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers)
