Graduate Intern - Aviation Project Management

**Some of what you'll be doing:**
This is a full-time summer, and part-time school year internship opportunity expected to last one year.
The focus of this internship is to provide project management assistance for the upcoming renovation and expansion of the Airport’s South Concourse at the South Satellite facility. The selected candidate will join a team of project managers currently working on the program. The specific role for this position will be dependent upon your background and area of emphasis within your studies. The project will actively engage disciplines in airport terminal design, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, utilities, electrical, communications, emergency response, systems controls, sustainability, baggage, architecture, asset management, signage and wayfinding, and possibly more. Specific tasks will include:
+ Research, understand, identify existing assets to be demolished
+ Prepare draft request for proposals for contracts
+ Prepare draft partnering program goals and organizational charts
+ Obtain and research existing conditions drawings, including recording a standard list of projects and drawings to comprise the comprehensive final as-builts
+ Breakout and define sustainability studies required in the program
+ Prepare a communication plan for the program including internal and external communication
+ Participate in the phasing and sequencing definition for the construction, including identification of early work packages
This intern will work closely with Aviation project managers and will complete project management tasks within the selected area as requested by the supervising project manager. Capturing processes, procedures, standards, specifications, and requirements and updating project managers on implications of these items is essential.
You will be integral to coordinating activities with other program team members, including project sponsors, the capital facilities and planning team and the Port construction management team. You will be responsible for obtaining and documenting information and updates from Port stakeholders; will create databases, diagrams, presentations, and project management documents, including reports, schedules and action item lists; perform project duties observing the design progress; and will assist in evaluating, tracking asset plans as well as preparation of asset identification for booking of the project assets. You will prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports.
**Who you are:**
+ **A Student** – You must be currently enrolled in a Graduate degree program or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago). You must be in a degree program such as aviation, architecture, engineering (civil, electrical or mechanical), construction or project management, or sustainability.

**What else you need to know:**
+ **Work Schedule** – This is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship position in the summer with the ability to extend to part-time hours during the school year. Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
+ **Work Environment** – You will work in a hybrid remote/office environment with regular site visits as needed. Flexible work arrangements are available.
+ **Limited Duration** – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year.
+ **Safety Requirements** – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
+ **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you will/must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
