The opportunity

Prepare desk study reports on sites due for development     Use and manage subsurface information database systems      Observe construction site works and geotechnical investigation     Log and describe properties of geological (soil and rock) materials to aid design and construction works   Prepare laboratory test schedules     Interpret subsurface conditions and understand their impact on design and construction     Carry-out shallow and deep foundation design, slope stability calculations, and seismic assessments   Support the completion of temporary support-of-excavation designs, including for basements, shafts, and cut-and-cover tunnels/subway stations     Conduct preliminary ground movement predictions, hydrogeological impact and building damage assessments     Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams (e.g. structural, civil, bridges & civil structures) to designs for subsurface elements   Observe the installation of subsurface elements during construction

Completed a Master's degree or PhD of Science in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering/Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering     Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for team-based working     Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment     Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges     Able to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment     Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels     Proficient in developing code and common coding languages Proficient in geotechnical engineering analysis software preferred

San Francisco Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Fracisco is $74,000 to $81,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco will differ.
