What does a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Water team do?
· A Graduate Civil Engineer performs engineering work under close supervision requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out a sequence of related civil engineering tasks such as the preparation of plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards and drawings. They apply professional concepts and expand upon learning while performing various phases of engineering work receiving detailed instruction.
The Dams & Hydro team works on ensuring all dams are safe to secure our valuable water resources and provide security against flooding and water supply for various communities, as well as providing an innovative environment leading the way in providing reliable, renewable energy. On a day to day you might be involved in:
Assisting in designing a dam upgrade which includes performing structural, hydraulic or geotechnical analyses, attending a dam safety inspection which includes visiting potential dam sites or existing structures, and analysis of instrumentation data. Dams naturally overlap with hydropower structures, and you may also be involved in the design of hydropower structures, such as powerhouses, hydropower tunnels, or comparing turbines for a new hydropower system. Construction oversight where you may supervise construction activities to ensure they meet design specifications and safety standards. Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks, as well as helping to results technical issues during construction. Working in a team environment with geologists, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers. Assisting in preparation of technical reports and presentations.Why Stantec?

· Basic knowledge of engineering software and tools
· Ability to work in a team environment, not afraid to ask questions or for help, be flexible on daily duties
· Currently in final year of degree or 1-2 years of experience
