Your role and responsibilitiesGENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:\tAs a major speaking partner between ABB and Central/Local governments, the candidate will be responsible for government affairs, including the establishment and maintenance of relationships with various central/local government organizations, chambers and associations, non-governmental entities, and other stakeholders for deeper understanding of local policies and regulations, projects and events which are of interest of ABB. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:\tEnhance ABB’s brand in the policymaking community as a global leader in automation and electrification technologies. \tActively monitor and analyze policy developments, regulatory actions, and the political environment at the central and local government levels. Contact governments for early involvement in regulations and legislation that are of interest to ABB.\tResearch government policies that may impact ABB’s businesses and operating environment and communicate relevant information or advice to internal ABB stakeholders.\tCoordinate high-level meetings, visits and events for ABB, and prepare briefings for meeting attendees. \tCoordinate government affairs activities across all ABB companies in China.\tCollaborate and seek input from business partners in Business Areas/ Divisions and relevant functions, e.g. Sustainability, Finance, Legal, Communications to develop ABB thinking on government relations issues.\tPromote ABB’s brand, products and service to the stakeholders in all levels of the government, chambers, associations and non-governmental entities to enhance ABB’s influence in those organizations.\tSupports integrity culture in GRPA and models highest standards of behavior in interactions with government and policy stakeholders. Upholds and reinforces ABB’s policies and standards. Ensures that government relations activities protect and strengthen ABB’s brand, reputation and business activities. \tOther duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the roleThe successful candidate will have:\tMinimum 8 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or similar roles. Experience in a large, international company welcome. \tExperience with industrial manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or technology sector advocacy welcome.\tExtensive knowledge of government policy development and decision-making process. \tIn-depth knowledge of global issues (e.g.: industrial issues, energy, sustainability and climate policies, trade and international affairs). \tStrong project management experience, a problem-solver that is able to manage multiple projects within complex organizations.\tCoordination and management of internal working groups; facilitation skills to drive action among internal and external stakeholders.\tAbility to represent ABB’s positions with authority and persuasion.\tStrong understanding of corporate communication and reputation management welcome.\tStrategic thinking and planning skills to develop short- and long-term integrated strategies.\tInterested in the business and driven by contributing to company success.\tExperience translating policy and politics to a business audience.\tUniversity degree, preferably master’s level, MBA welcome.\tProfessional English.
