Job Description:Baker Tilly is seeking an entrepreneurial Government Accounting Services Manager to join our Public Sector Advisory group. This group serves the advisory and accounting needs of state and local governments, as well as special purpose governments across the United States, including counties, boroughs, cities, villages, townships, schools, utilities, districts, agencies, and other entities. As a Senior Manager, you will have the opportunity to build your own business in Michigan, drive local leadership, and leverage your expertise to foster growth and success for both clients and the firm.
Responsibilities:Oversee the day-to-day activities of U.S. GAAP compilations and reporting, agreed-upon procedures, and special projects.Identify and address accounting, financial statement, and reporting issues, providing recommendations based on professional guidelines including U.S. GAAP.Proactively build and nurture strong client relationships, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor and growing your business in your local market.Lead and mentor staff through coaching and guidance, ensuring they are supported in their development and that engagements meet or exceed client expectations.Take ownership of strategic initiatives within your area, with the opportunity to influence business decisions and contribute to the firm’s overall growth.Provide recommendations for business and process improvements based on your insights into clients’ operations, objectives, and challenges.Demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking by identifying opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships and develop new business prospects.Actively participate in the recruiting process, including campus recruiting and referring experienced professionals to the firm. Contribute to the firm's growth through the Employee Referral Bonus Program.Demonstrate excellent team collaboration, high ethical standards, and a positive attitude in all professional interactions.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Master’s Degree or other advanced degrees are preferred.CPA certification is highly preferred.A minimum of 6 years of experience working in a Michigan governmental entity or providing attest services in a professional services firm, with demonstrated expertise in managing client relationships and leading teams.Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and Public Company Oversight Board (PCAOB) Auditing Standards.Excellent communication skills with experience in client service, relationship building, public speaking, and collaboration.Proven ability to lead teams, influence strategic decisions, and contribute to the development of new business.Highly developed Microsoft Office Suite skills, with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint.A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to build and manage your own portfolio of business.If you are a dynamic leader with a passion for the public sector and an entrepreneurial spirit, this is the perfect opportunity to join our growing team.
