What You'll Do
Join the Data Layer Team, a global initiative transforming our organization into a data-driven enterprise! The Data Layer Team builds essential data platforms, products, and capabilities to empower our Case Teams (CTs) and Practice Areas (PAs) with high-quality, actionable insights. Our focus is on creating scalable data solutions and advancing our data infrastructure to drive informed decision-making across the company.
We are looking for a Global Data Product Portfolio Lead to drive this transformation and shape BCG’s data strategy. In this role, you will enhance and translate our strategic vision into a concrete roadmap, execute against that roadmap with excellence (including refining it as needed), build and manage product and data teams, collaborate with stakeholders, ensure clear communication with BCG senior leadership, and consistently deliver value and outcomes.
You will play a key role in reshaping BCG’s ways of working to support data products that will power GenAI solutions, working closely with our executive leadership team, product teams, and data engineers. As an agent of change, you will champion the adoption of GenAI and foster an innovative mindset across BCG.
The Data Layer portfolio—and you, as its leader—will have significant support, including executive-level sponsorship and a dedicated full-time team.
Responsibilities include:
Set the Data Layer's overall strategy ensuring alignment with BCG's AI objectivesAssess current BCG data-related business needs with a focus on case teams and PAs; translate this into the Data Product strategyContinuously monitor and evaluate emerging trends and advancements in GenAI and related data needsRegularly reassess the portfolio’s strategic direction, adapting to evolving business landscapes, regulatory requirements, and technological innovationsDefine vision and roadmap for data layer architecture and core data products, such as a data catalog, ensuring alignment with the Technical Area Lead (TAL) on executionPartner with TAL and architecture/engineering team to design and develop a scalable data layer architecture and data products that supports BCG’s consulting-facing GenAI solutions, focusing on defining the product vision to meet business and user requirements (the 'what'), while TAL handles technical implementation (the 'how')Define vision and roadmap, and partner with TAL and architecture/engineering team to deploy a robust ‘data catalog’ for data assets used in client-facing consulting executions. Evolve this product to provide in-context recommendations on data assets that could play a role in case executionPartner with the Practice Areas and other GenAI product teams to ‘unlock’ BCG offerings with GenAI, focusing on increased velocity and-or quality outputsBuild and manage the Data Layer team; oversee the allocation of resources and funds while ensuring the program achieves its milestones within set timelinesLead the development and scaling of data product teams, including roles such as product owners and product analystsCoordinate with finance to budget effectively, ensuring alignment with program needs and goalsOversee resource allocation, and continuously monitor utilization to ensure efficiency & impactFoster strong relationships with all stakeholders (PAs, Digital Factory, Knowledge portfolio, and Q portfolio), ensuring effective alignment across the organizationPartner with multiple business stakeholders in transforming prioritized offerings to GenAI experiencesDevelop strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring support for Data Layer initiativeOversee communication and change management strategyActively seek and integrate feedback to enhance program effectivenessEngage BCG's executive team, ensuring they are informed of progress, challenges, and strategic decisionsTrack results, including adoption and outcomes, to ensure return and impactDefine and implement comprehensive metrics and KPIs to track adoption, user engagement, and business impact of data productsEstablish a reporting framework that provides clear insights into data product performance, demonstrating ROI and strategic alignmentLead cross-functional review meetings to assess progress, facilitating feedback and discussions to identify opportunities for improvementMonitor industry trends and benchmark against peer organizations to identify best practices and opportunities for maximizing impactYOU’RE GOOD AT

15+ years of experience in data product management, data strategy, or enterprise data leadership, including experience in a director or senior leadership role overseeing large-scale data initiatives. Prior experience working with Consulting data like benchmarks or 3rd party sources is a plusProven track record in program or portfolio management, with a focus on delivering complex, large-scale data or technology initiatives, ideally within a global, matrixed organizationUnderstanding of enterprise data ecosystems, including data governance, data architecture, AI/ML applications, and modern data infrastructure.Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale projects.Strong understanding of budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation.Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate at all levels, from team members to executive leadership.A working understanding of functional domains, processes, and priorities.Exceptional communications and stakeholder management skills.Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within a rapidly changing environment.B.A./B.S. in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Data Science) is a plus.Who You'll Work With
