Title and Summary
Global Network Direct to Scheme DirectorOverviewThe Global Network Direct to Scheme Director will be responsible to establish direct connections with payment schemes across the globe in line with the Mastercard Move XBS network strategy and will be part of the global network partnership team that expands and manages the Mastercard cross border services (MA XBS) payment network.
Responsibilities
•\tOversee and lead all MA XBS direct to scheme expansions as described in the XBS network strategy.
•\tManage existing and future direct to scheme connections.
•\tLead conversations with local central banks & payment regulators to design the solution
•\tDetail inner workings of transactional flow (including: payment initiation & messaging, reconciliation, reporting etc..) and funds flow between Mastercard, Central Bank and Payment Scheme.
•\tOwn the local scheme rulebooks from MA XBS perspective and associated implication for Mastercard – detail and develop necessary processes to successfully participate in the scheme.
•\tAssess the market opportunity and business benefits when enabling and prioritizing a direct connection to scheme.
•\tAssess and understand the local requirements in order to connect to schemes directly - collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to determine feasibility.
•\tOwn, build and track a direct to scheme roadmap for 2026/27.
•\tScope and drive Mastercard license expansion to support direct to scheme in chosen jurisdictions.
•\tSupport the regional stakeholders and the Transfer Solutions commercialization team with market insight and developments.
•\tNavigate across cultures and geographies and leverage strong relationships with key groups across Mastercard to gain support and buy-in from regional stakeholders.
•\tProactively share and drive institutionalized knowledge through the use of consistent documentation (e.g., support documents) across all processes to support knowledge management and ensure consistency and repeatability across projects

•\tDemonstrated experience building organizational relationships, partnering with and influencing executive leadership while commanding the respect of the individual product practitioners across the organization.
•\tHas proven success developing and managing direct to scheme connections
•\tHas experience in international payments, foreign exchange, cash management, settlement and reconciliation processes
•\tHas 15+ years of experience in the payments industry.
•\tHas intimate knowledge of payment systems, schemes, and structures.
•\tHas experience working in correspondent banking and/or transaction banking.
