Job DescriptionPrimary Accountabilities:
Leads development and execution of multi-year global medical strategy for the nephrology indications and LCM of TAK-279 (mezagtiamab) and other pipeline assets, appropriately aligned with overall assets strategy and GPT, incorporating various functional strategies across functions in R&D and Global Portfolio Division (Clinical, Medical, Regulatory, Global Evidence and Outcome (GEO), PV, Global Product Launch Strategy (GPLS), Marketing and Commercial Excellence (MCE), and the countries/LOCs).Serves as the global scientific expert within Takeda in support of nephrology indications and LCM of mezagtiamab and other pipeline assets.Leads the Medical Strategy Team (MST) for the nephrology indications of mezagtiamab and other pipeline assets.Responsible for development execution of Global Medical plans and collaboration with the counties/LOCs as appropriate.Develop and manage the Global Medical budget for nephrology TA.Acts as a senior company representative interacting with external scientific leaders, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities.Establishes appropriate strategic partnerships with nephrology centers of excellence, patient organizations, and expert HCPs.Collaborates with Legal, Ethics, Compliance and Regulatory functions to ensure appropriate interactions between Global Medical personnel and external stakeholders.Responsibilities
Defines Global Medical strategy and plans for the assets IndicationsLeads development of multi-year medical strategy for the nephrology indications of mezagtiamab and other pipeline assets, publications strategy, congress strategy, customer interaction strategy, the scientific communication platform for the disease area / brand(s) aligned with product strategy, BD medical activities and digital strategy.Oversees development of in-year medical tactical plan and budget for the global initiativesLeads functional (e.g. publications, medical communications, medical training) and in-line teams in developing plans supporting Global Medical strategy.Leads the collaboration with commercial/GPLS/MCE to ensure aligned and medically appropriate commercial strategy, planning and execution.Participates in development of product strategy; co-creates with Product Strategy Teams and GPTs.Develops and defines Global Medical team goals and key performance metrics.Leads the Medical Strategy Teams (MST)
Collaborates with Legal, Ethics, Compliance, Regulatory and Medical Training to ensure understanding and adherence of GM team to Takeda and external policies and regulations.Coordinates with the Head, Global Immunology TA, MSTs, and MEST to define and address global medical team training and professional development needs as well as training needs related to the product/disease area.Mentor, coach, and develop Global Medical team in the TA.Monitor team performance and identify areas for development.Oversees and manages in-year implementation of GM strategy, potentially including:
Providing physician leadership for scientific communications and evidence generation strategy, including standard responses and publications.Planning, designing, and managing global nephrology advisory boards and collaborating with regional and LOC activities.Providing medical review and approval of Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) proposals and other grants through the grant approval process in the TA.Leading design and execution of clinical studies with Global Medical Evidence (phase IIIb/IV, disease registries, epidemiological studies, outcomes surveys, etc.) in close collaboration with R&D functions including GEO.Monitor and communicate progress against medical plan; propose and initiate initiatives as need to adjust to changing nephrology disease area landscape.Overseeing medical review and approval of promotional and meeting materials as needed.Interaction with external stakeholders in alignment with customer needs and medical strategy
Acts as a senior company representative with external scientific leaders, policy makers, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities.Establishes and/or enhances partnerships with key academic institutions and develops relationships with key thought leaders.Acts as a senior company representative interacting with external scientific leaders, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities.Establishes appropriate strategic partnerships with HCPs in areas of scientific interest.Represent Global Medical at internal and external meetings.Presents data on products in the nephrology therapeutic area.Maintenance of knowledge base
Serves as a key medical resource on nephrology indications and LCM of mezagtiamab and other pipeline assets nephrology indications of mezagtiamab and other pipeline assets.Maintains a high level of expertise on the nephrology disease area.Develops and maintains knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations, guidelines, codes of practices and Takeda policies related to all medical activities.Develops, conducts, or participates in nephrology, mezagtiamab and other pipeline assets therapeutic training programs for Takeda internal departments.Education and Experience Requirements
A medical degree is required, preferably with training and clinical experience in nephrology, urology, or internal medicine.>10 years of experience in biopharmaceutical medicine, preferably in nephrology or immunology within a matrix or franchise structure.Experience in medical affairs is required, preferably in nephrology.Experience leading teams at the brand or disease area levels in country, regional or global organizations is required.Experience in field-based roles (e.g. Medical Director, Medical Science Liaison) and/or clinical development is helpful.Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

$256,200.00 - $402,600.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
