Join Takeda as a Global Medical Program Manager where you will provide project management and leadership skills to the Medical Strategy Teams (MST) in the successful management of multiple programs within a therapeutic area for Global Medical Affairs (GMA). This will include leadership of MSTs and/or other program teams, in strategic direction and translating program strategy into an efficiently executable plan; predicting and planning solutions to achieve successful operational execution; driving the team to achieve forecast accuracy and effective risk management.
You will also partner closely with the Global Medical Unit Head (GMUH) and medical cross-functional teams, as well as relevant global, regional and local Medical Affairs, Commercial and R&D functions, as required, to ensure that the medical and functional strategy is integrated into an operational plan. Serve as a partner to GMA functional team members to manage program priorities, identify resource needs; initiate key strategic planning activities; report program progress; oversee program budget and execute communication.
As part of the Global Medical Program Management team, you will report to the Head of Medical Program Management.
How you will contribute:
Leads the program operational planning efforts of MSTs, in maintaining oversight for operational plans, execution strategies & critical path for the asset.
Partners with program medical leads in creation of strategies and supports the MST in presenting these strategies to key stakeholders and decision makers. Adjusts program strategy and priorities in response to changes in strategic direction.
Establishes, communicates and executes plans with stakeholders and teams to achieve program goals.
Manages the planning, operational and reporting of the MST (including but not limited to: meeting management, meeting facilitation, development of materials with contributors, capture and follow up of action items and deliverables, distribution of minutes and maintenance of relevant site pages (or equivalent))
Facilitate the MST and/or other group meetings and ensure agendas are appropriate to enable discussions and decisions within the team.
Proactively identifies program hindrance and derailers, plans for mitigation and follows through to resolution, ensuring that MST arrives at an aligned conclusion or recommendation.
Drives financial planning exercise for programs and provides oversight for program budget. Includes consolidation, vetting and prioritization of program spending and vendors, risks and opportunities, in partnership with the program medical leads and MST team.
Responsible for coordinating governance approvals for the key program deliverables and holds self and team members accountable to deliver on the agreed upon program objectives
Addresses and resolves program challenges, keeping relevant stakeholders informed of critical considerations (e.g., resources, performance concerns). Provides clarity and direction in urgent or unexpected situations.
Leads the program risk management process in the team and generates the cross-functional program risk register for assigned MSTs. Ensure that the risks identified are reported up through to the Global Program Manager at the GPT for consolidation into the Global Risk Management Plan for the asset.
Manages program status reporting and dashboards for a given program, including scheduled as well as ad-hoc updates.
Generates collaboration, cooperation and communication globally across divisions and functions and between regional representatives in the team ensuring that team goals are achieved.
Identifies ways to achieve program operational excellence where possible
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree science or business-related field
At least 3 years' experience in leading complex pharmaceutical projects in a multi-disciplinary, global environment
Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and project management experience within Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Regulatory, CMC, Marketing or other drug development related function
Knowledge of the drug development and commercialization process and an understanding of the functions within the pharmaceutical industry
Proven ability to communicate clearly and present key information objectively and collaborate effectively with management
Experience managing program level budgets across multiple projects
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance guidelines governing medical affairs
Applied knowledge of performance measurement (e.g. metrics, dashboards)
May travel to the US, EU and other meeting locations internationally. Approximately 5% travel.

$108,500.00 - $170,500.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
