Customer Relationship Lead (CRL) – Global Industry

This role is part of the Global Reporting & Data Analytics Team, which provides globally consistent standardized reporting & analytics across all levels of the firm. This is a senior role within the “Leadership Support” pillar of the team. The R&DA team is a virtual Global team and hence applications will be considered from any location.

The Opportunity:

The CRL for Global Industry provides reporting, analysis and strategic advice primarily to the Global Industry Reporting Leader and other members of the wider Global Industry and Global Industry Markets teams. Within the scope of the role are markets data/reporting/analysis (eg GTER, Account Margin, Sales & Pipeline).

This role is responsible for being the main point of contact for the Global Industry Reporting Leader (and his team), and for coordinating the provision of accurate and timely standard recurring reports and analysis as well as ad hoc management information.

The role includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

Ensuring the provision of standard reports and promoting their usage

The Global R&DA team produces a wide range of standard reports, including the Essentials applications, the Essentials for Markets portal and cube, and the Reporting Hub. The individual in this role will be required to have, or to acquire, a good knowledge of these core applications/reports and should assist Global Industry and the Global Industry Market teams in making best use of them. The CRL plays a key role in overseeing and ensuring the quality of the weekly/monthly deliverables produced by the GDS part of the R&DA – including management reporting packs which are unique to Global Industry. The CRL is ultimately accountable for these Industry-specific outputs. In addition, the individual should continually educate the R&DA team and wider business functions on key concepts/principles/updates relative to Global Industry reporting to ensure a consistent reporting approach for Industry across the firm.

Providing actionable insights & strategic advice

In addition to ensuring the provision of standard reporting, a critical part of the role is to provide ad hoc analysis or data on demand (either directly or via team members). By their very nature these requests can be diverse and unpredictable – in order to be as responsive as possible the CRL should be (or should become) familiar with all the main sources of information that can be used to answer ad hoc requests – including Markets Extracts, ThoughtSpot, Markets Ad Hoc Cube. The successful candidate will be a problem solver who can understand the business problem/need articulated by the customer, and who can propose appropriate potential solutions. At all times the CRL should be seeking to provide actionable strategic insights, not just bare bones data.

Bringing all of the R&DA to the customer

The CRL is the key contact point between the R&DA Team and the wider business. As such, a critical part of the role is to leverage everything the R&DA Team has to offer in order to deliver the maximum impact and the maximum benefit for the customer. This includes familiarity with new reports and reports in the development pipeline, as well as an awareness of what other pillars within the R&DA Team have to offer (especially the Global Analytics Pillar). The CRL is expected to build their network and leverage the expertise of the wider team, when needed, to provide the customer with holistic support. The aim is to share best practices across the wider R&DA Team and to leverage existing reports/analyses, wherever possible. Gatekeeper for enhancement requests and new requests This role receives requests for new standard reports or enhancements to existing reports. This role will assist in the specification of example new reports and will check that similar reports do not already exist in the R&DA. If a new report is needed, this role will work with the customer to specify the report and then liaise with the R&DA Enablement Pillar on the build and testing of the new report. Likewise, where enhancements are needed to existing reports this role will work with the customer to specify the enhancements and then liaise with the R&DA Enablement Pillar on the build and testing of the enhancements made.

Education & Training

This role will be responsible for educating customer team members on the usage of our data and reporting, in particular with the aim of enhancing and increasing the customers’ ability to self-service their needs as much as possible (eg via the standard reporting and via the ad hoc cubes). Key aim to drive awareness and adoption of standard tools. Also responsible for the education of GDS team members by imparting knowledge to the team based on relevant updates from R&DA Leadership discussions and initiatives driven by Global Industry.

In addition to the above, other responsibilities include the following:

Establish, maintain and leverage broad and reliable network with customers and colleagues. Maintain a close working relationship with the GDS Team in India. Stay close to the business to ensure reporting advice is relevant, and that insights provide added value. Provide communications on relevant reporting points of interest to customers. Work with customer groups to document new report requirements. Liaise with relevant contacts in the Enablement Pillar of the R&DA team (on the build of new reports or data queries on existing reports). Ad-hoc support providing analytics and insights taking care to leverage the right tools / sources. Be well-informed about Global Markets initiatives. Develop an understanding of new systems (eg Dynamics) and advise Global Industry how to maximize opportunities arising from subsequent new data streams.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Strong technical skills with ability to analyze problems, design and implement solutions independently. Expertise in Excel, Power BI & PowerPoint skills - ability to handle large data sets, delivering insightful analysis, and presenting effectively. SQL skills not required, but welcome. Adaptable and resilient in a dynamic, high-growth environment, with ability to handle ambiguity and frame problem-solving strategies. Lead conversations based on business priorities with EY’s “All In” strategy in mind. Self-starter with an ability to prioritize, challenge, negotiate and influence. Problem Solver. Strong client service and communication skills – assertive influencer. Ability and confidence to raise constructive challenges with key customers/stakeholders. Business acumen and judgement – eg knowing what’s appropriate to send to leadership. Strong attention to detail and ownership relative to the delivery of accurate and high-quality work. Ability to explain complex information or concepts to non-specialist audiences with varying degrees of financial knowledge (pitching at the right level of detail). A flexible and professional approach, remaining calm under pressure. Willing to leverage and extend networks.

Other Requirements:

Ability to build relationships across diverse teams both locally and globally. Ability to work as part of a team, ensuring seamless service to the firm and clients. The ability to demonstrate the Trusted Business Advisor competencies.

What we look for:

An enthusiastic and dedicated individual with strong project management skills, strong financial reporting skills, and the ability to analyze problems. Someone with a passion for building strong, positive and pro-active stakeholder relationships and a commitment to providing high quality outputs.
