Job Description

Position Purpose

Under the direction of the Senior Global Ethics and Compliance Officer, the Global Compliance Analyst, Human Rights, helps ensure the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a strong human rights program.  Amongst other things, the Global Compliance Analyst, Human Rights, reviews and updates human rights policies and procedures; delivers targeted human rights training to key stakeholders; manages the human rights monitoring program, ensuring that all SMETA audits at CHEP run plants are successfully completed and all mitigating actions, as necessary, are implemented and tracks all SMETA audits carried out at Brambles’ suppliers, escalating any findings as necessary so that the business can work with the suppliers to take action as appropriate.  Additionally, the Global Compliance Analyst, Human Rights, conducts compliance assessments, carries out internal investigations and supports home country compliance activities, as assigned.

Key Accountabilities

This role will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Global Human Rights Program.  This role will be responsible for:

Designing, developing, documenting, and implementing human rights monitoring programs in each Brambles’ region.  These programs apply to both Brambles and Brambles’ value chains.Conducting salient issue assessments and human rights inspections withing Brambles’ operations and escalating any non-conformities as appropriate. Working with, and providing support to, each region as identified suppliers undergo SMETA audits at Brambles’ request, either in connection with the human rights monitoring program or if otherwise required as a condition of onboarding during due diligence.  As part of this work, the Global Compliance Analyst, Human Rights, will help the identified suppliers register with SEDEX, schedule and undergo a SMETA audit, and track the findings, ensuring all non-conformities are addressed to Brambles’ satisfaction before the audit is closed.Guiding and tracking human rights inspections of third parties globally and escalating any non-conformities as appropriate. Overseeing SMETA audits at CHEP-run plants or facilities and other high-risk suppliers, escalating any non-conformities, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented as appropriate. Maintaining a Human Rights Monitoring Program Tracker.Delivering human rights training to all relevant stakeholders and conducting human rights awareness campaigns. Carrying out internal investigations and compliance risk assessments as assigned.

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or first degree equivalent in a legal, paralegal, or international business discipline.At least 2 years legal or compliance-related experience.Strong analytical, writing, and legal research skills.Exceptional attention to detail, meticulous record-keeping practices and ability to organize large volumes of data.Corporate compliance experience in a diversified global company.Experience in carrying out investigations and/or risk assessments.Experience in delivering training and guiding others.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with Human Rights auditsExperience in data analytics, to include technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.

Skills and Knowledge

Exceptional attention to detail, meticulous record-keeping practices and ability to organize large volumes of data.Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across multiple cultures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fostering an ability to consult with and influence employees at all levels and to communicate the vision and strategy of the global ethics compliance program.Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.Strong logic thinking and writing and legal/compliance research skills.Ability to self-start and self-direct in a fast-paced environment.Ability to interpret requirements and internalize concepts without much redundancy.Ability to provide efficient, timely, consistent, reliable, neat and tidy, ready to use outputs.Ability to balance multiple priorities driving projects to completion while meeting all deadlines in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.Ability to work as part of a global legal and ethics & compliance team.
