Summary:
The GCM Tooling plays a pivotal role in establishing and leading the tooling management capability within the Product Procurement team. This role requires a deep understanding of tooling design (especially plastic molds), manufacturing, tool maintenance and life-cycle management. The GCM Tooling will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including other Category teams, Supplier Engineering, Plants, Verticals, MTI (Manufacturing, Technology and Innovation), Finance and Legal to optimize asset usage and drive cost-effective solutions across FME's global operations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Program Development:Develop and implement a comprehensive global tooling management strategy aligned with FME's business objectives and procurement strategy considering potential scope enlargement for further assets such as fixtures, jigs,measurement and inspection toolsCollaborate with Finance and Verticals to establish funding models and methods for tooling investments, incorporating principles from "Total Value of Ownership"Partner with MTI to co-develop and implement:Tool acquisition and disposal programs.Standardized procedures for tool design, validation and maintenance.A robust global tool database tracking in-house and externally held production tools/ other assetsMonitor Lifecycle Management of all tools at suppliers in collaboration withSupplier EngineeringDefine and implement a clear "Global/Local Mix" framework for tool sourcing decisions, considering local market needs and global standardization opportunitiesSourcing & Supplier Management:Identify, evaluate and develop a network of globally preferred tool suppliersEstablish standardized RFX (Request for Information/Quote/Proposal) templates, incorporating should-cost modeling and target costsLead/ Supervise sourcing activities, including RFXs and negotiations for tooling leveraging internal expertise and toolsSupport all Categories with tool design and acquisition insights to mitigate costs and riskImplement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with key tooling suppliers, involving cross-functional teamsOperational Excellence:Develop and maintain a global tool/ asset database, tracking tool location, ownership, condition, maintenance schedules and performance historyCollaborate with MTI to define tool maintenance schedules and monitor execution, particularly for third-party moldersSupport asset relocations (supplier to plant and vice versa) together with MTI Support asset relocations (supplier to plant and vice versa) together with MTI in alignment with Category team and Verticalsin alignment with Category team and VerticalsSupport annual IFRS 16 updates on lease values for accounting and reporting purposesPartner with Supplier Engineering to drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize asset utilization, reduce lead times, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Qualifications:
Statical certified technician, Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related fieldProven expertise in tool design, manufacturing and life cycle management within the plastics industryStrong understanding of tool manufacture and injection molding processes and technologiesExperience in global sourcing, supplier management and contract negotiationsExcellent communication, interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skillsProficiency in using mold-related software and databasesFluent in EnglishOpen to travelMaster's degree in a relevant fieldExperience working in a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals)Familiarity with international procurement and logisticsKnowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices
