Job Description

We are seeking a GIS Technician 1 with 0-2 years of experience in a related field. The ideal candidate will have a diploma or certificate in Geographical Information Systems or a related curriculum. This role involves managing routine GIS tasks, including data management and map creation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

ResponsibilitiesManage routine GIS tasks, including data management and map creation ensuring accuracy and efficiency.Create maps and other visual representations using GIS tools.Ensure timely updates to GIS databases.Collaborate with GIS Analysts on complex projects.Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies.Provide input on GIS tool enhancements.Essential Skills0-2 years of experience with GIS and mapping.0-2 years of experience with ArcMap.Experience with editing and digitizing maps, converting as-built data into GIS.Experience performing QA/QC on version data.Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS 10.2x.Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).Intermediate proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise.Intermediate proficiency in Geometric Network.Intermediate proficiency in Model Builder.Intermediate proficiency in Python.Intermediate proficiency in SQL RDBMS.Basic proficiency in AutoCAD/CADD.Basic proficiency in Visual Basic/VBA.Basic proficiency in SharePoint.Excellent geoprocessing and spatial analysis skills.Strong requirements review, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Application testing script development and performance of testing.Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in geography (GIS), engineering, computer science, or related field preferred.GIS certificate and 2 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree in related discipline is acceptable.Master’s degree in geography (GIS, geosciences, engineering, computer science, or related field) preferred.Previous experience in the utility or pipeline space is a plus.As-built drawing experience is a plus.Linear referencing experience is a plus.Ideal internship/professional experience would be from a municipal or utility, doing GIS data editing, data analysis, or modifying existing features.Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence from Tuesday to Thursday. The office setting is a cubicle-style environment, with around 40 total employees in the GIS team. Core business hours are from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, with flexibility as long as consistent hours are maintained, and arrival by 9 AM at the latest. Overtime will be on an as-needed basis and at the employee's discretion at the start of every week. Employees can choose one week a month to work four 10-hour days to get that Friday off. Flexible working hours (starting between 7-8:30 AM) are available, with an 8-hour workday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
