GFS OnSite Energy & Power Department Manager (Kansas City)

This position is responsible for the strategic development and overall leadership of the Burns McDonnell OnSite Energy Power (OSEP) Practice in the Kansas City office and the surrounding region. This position will build upon the team in the Kansas City office to grow the practice in a dynamic and profitable manner based upon Burns McDonnell’s core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and overall outstanding service.

This position will coordinate with GFS KCM leadership and OSEP National leadership and resources.

Specific areas of responsibility include the following:

Leadership

Grow an OSEP team providing opportunities for individuals to develop and have long careers with BMcDFoster an environment and team based on MacCulture PrinciplesContinue to provide a strong, nationally recognized team that provides solid and reliable profits and value for MAR and BMcDEmpower team members as Employee Owners and direct Client Managers/CoordinatorsFocus on overall team, KCM GFS, and office morale

Operations

Recruit key talent for continued success and growth – new grads, mid-level, and senior staffEnsure ongoing intern program and developmentCoordinate and lead monthly project reviews focused on financials, schedule, quality, resources, change orders, project success, business development, and overall client satisfactionMentor project managers and section managersLead, set goals, and create accountability for Direct Reports including section managers, senior project managers, and administrative assistantServe as project manager on key projectsReview project and overall team financials and track related to business planAssist with overall GFS KCM business and strategic planningLead MAR OSEP business planning and coordinate with GFS KCM and national OSEP business planningCoordinate resources with GFS KCM, national OSEP, and BMISupport section managers with personnel issuesLead annual performance review program for OSEP and coordinate with GFS KCM

Business Development

Identify target clients for BMCD OSEP focus in Kansas City and the U.S.Grow existing relationships for more OSEP studies, design, and constructionCoordinate with national OSEP on pursuits and opportunitiesWork with Marketing and OSEP team resources to develop and approve of Qualifications and ProposalsIdentify project opportunities early and facilitate go/no go decisions in coordination with office leadership and OSEP practice leadershipEnsure the risk process is championed and followedEmpower and create accountability for the OSEP leadership in business developmentLead efforts in conferences and organizations like the International District Energy AssociationConduct Client Satisfaction calls/surveys and act on any areas for improvement

Technical

Develop and foster Technical Training program. Coordinate across all GFS DFW Lanes when applicable.Ensure Quality Program is followed. Set up ongoing Quality Training ProgramImprove overall project delivery and processes. Continually improve best practices and standards.Lead contract and negotiations process for projects after selection

General

Ensure safe work environment, in office and when on-site, and overall safety-focused cultureCommunicate and keep team current on relevant issuesSupport corporate, regional, and GP initiativesCoordinate and build relationships with other GFS KCM Practice LeadsTravel is required and will vary. Potential range 15 – 35% of timeBillability will vary.

Measures of Performance:

These performance measures will be developed and reviewed in cooperation with the GFS KCM GP Manager and Operations Director, OSEP Practice Leadership, and Regional Office Leadership.

Attainment of sales, revenue, income, and staff size goalsAttainment of billable time targets for the teamAbility to maximize profitability on projectsAbility to attract, hire, develop, and retain the best people into BMCD.Ability to execute projects meeting or exceeding client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget.Ability to execute projects meeting or exceeding internal expectations for quality, schedule, labor/cost budgets, project profitability, safety, and client satisfaction.Promote and develop proficiency in integrated design-build delivery methods
